²⁴ For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Neither hath he hid his face from him;
But when he cried unto him, he heard.

² O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou answerest not;
And in the night season, and am not silent.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised of the people.

⁶ This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say,
Jehovah, who is like unto thee,
Who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him,
Yea, the poor and the needy from him that robbeth him?

¹⁷ And hide not thy face from thy servant;
For I am in distress; answer me speedily.

²⁹ But I am poor and sorrowful:
Let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high. ³⁰ I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify him with thanksgiving. ³¹ And it will please Jehovah better than an ox,
[Or] a bullock that hath horns and hoofs. ³² The meek have seen it, and are glad:
Ye that seek after God, let your heart live. ³³ For Jehovah heareth the needy,
And despiseth not his prisoners. ³⁴ Let heaven and earth praise him,
The seas, and everything that moveth therein.

³ The cords of death compassed me,
And the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me:
I found trouble and sorrow. ⁴ Then called I upon the name of Jehovah:
O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. ⁵ Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous;
Yea, our God is merciful. ⁶ Jehovah preserveth the simple:
I was brought low, and he saved me.

⁵ Out of my distress I called upon Jehovah:
Jehovah answered me [and set me] in a large place.

⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting. ⁷ For the Lord Jehovah will help me; therefore have I not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. ⁸ He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand up together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me. ⁹ Behold, the Lord Jehovah will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? behold, all they shall wax old as a garment, the moth shall eat them up.
