²³ Who remembered us in our low estate;
For his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever;

¹ And God remembered Noah, and all the beasts, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;

³⁶ For Jehovah will judge his people,
And repent himself for his servants;
When he seeth that [their] power is gone,
And there is none [remaining], shut up or left at large.

⁷ Jehovah maketh poor, and maketh rich:
He bringeth low, he also lifteth up. ⁸ He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,
He lifteth up the needy from the dunghill,
To make them sit with princes,
And inherit the throne of glory:
For the pillars of the earth are Jehovah's,
And he hath set the world upon them.

¹² For he will deliver the needy when he crieth,
And the poor, that hath no helper. ¹³ He will have pity on the poor and needy,
And the souls of the needy he will save. ¹⁴ He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence;
And precious will their blood be in his sight:

¹⁷ He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute,
And hath not despised their prayer.

⁴³ Many times did he deliver them;
But they were rebellious in their counsel,
And were brought low in their iniquity. ⁴⁴ Nevertheless he regarded their distress,
When he heard their cry: ⁴⁵ And he remembered for them his covenant,
And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

⁷ He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,
And lifteth up the needy from the dunghill;

⁶ Jehovah preserveth the simple:
I was brought low, and he saved me.

⁶ Attend unto my cry;
For I am brought very low:
Deliver me from my persecutors;
For they are stronger than I.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

³ and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was thy father, and thy mother was a Hittite. ⁴ And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to cleanse thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. ⁵ No eye pitied thee, to do any of these things unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, for that thy person was abhorred, in the day that thou wast born.
⁶ And when I passed by thee, and saw thee weltering in thy blood, I said unto thee, [Though thou art] in thy blood, live; yea, I said unto thee, [Though thou art] in thy blood, live. ⁷ I caused thee to multiply as that which groweth in the field, and thou didst increase and wax great, and thou attainedst to excellent ornament; thy breasts were fashioned, and thy hair was grown; yet thou wast naked and bare. ⁸ Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou becamest mine. ⁹ Then washed I thee with water; yea, I thoroughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil. ¹⁰ I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with sealskin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and covered thee with silk. ¹¹ And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. ¹² And I put a ring upon thy nose, and ear-rings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head. ¹³ Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil; and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper unto royal estate.

⁴⁸ For he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaid:
For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

⁵² He hath put down princes from [their] thrones,
And hath exalted them of low degree.
