In Jehovah do I take refuge:
How say ye to my soul,
Flee [as] a bird to your mountain; ² For, lo, the wicked bend the bow,
They make ready their arrow upon the string,
That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart; ³ If the foundations be destroyed,
What can the righteous do? ⁴ Jehovah is in his holy temple;
Jehovah, his throne is in heaven;
His eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. ⁵ Jehovah trieth the righteous;
But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. ⁶ Upon the wicked he will rain snares;
Fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup. ⁷ For Jehovah is righteous;
He loveth righteousness:
The upright shall behold his face.

¹¹ And Saul sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal, David's wife, told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to-night, to-morrow thou wilt be slain.

³⁸ And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.

¹⁰ And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. ¹¹ And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying,
Saul hath slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands? ¹² And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.

³ And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, [and be] with you, till I know what God will do for me.

¹⁴ And David abode in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill-country in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

¹ And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.

¹¹ And Asa cried unto Jehovah his God, and said, Jehovah, there is none besides thee to help, between the mighty and him that hath no strength: help us, O Jehovah our God; for we rely on thee, and in thy name are we come against this multitude. O Jehovah, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.

⁸ Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge host, with chariots and horsemen exceeding many? yet, because thou didst rely on Jehovah, he delivered them into thy hand.

O Jehovah my God, in thee do I take refuge:
Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me,

¹⁰ And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee;
For thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I take refuge.

² O my God, in thee have I trusted,
Let me not be put to shame;
Let not mine enemies triumph over me.

¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O Jehovah:
I said, Thou art my God.

⁶ And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove!
Then would I fly away, and be at rest. ⁷ Lo, then would I wander far off,
I would lodge in the wilderness. [Selah

¹¹ In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid;
What can man do unto me?

⁵ Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand [of the hunter],
And as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

³ Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]; because he trusteth in thee. ⁴ Trust ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jehovah, [even] Jehovah, is an everlasting rock.

³¹ In that very hour there came certain Pharisees, saying to him, Get thee out, and go hence: for Herod would fain kill thee.

²¹ And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son-in-law a second time.

⁹ And David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

¹⁰ My shield is with God,
Who saveth the upright in heart.

¹² If a man turn not, he will whet his sword;
He hath bent his bow, and made it ready;

² In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued;
Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.

⁸ He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages;
In the secret places doth he murder the innocent;
His eyes are privily set against the helpless. ⁹ He lurketh in secret as a lion in his covert;
He lieth in wait to catch the poor:
He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him in his net.

¹² For thou wilt make them turn their back;
Thou wilt make ready with thy bowstrings against their face.

¹¹ Be glad in Jehovah, and rejoice, ye righteous;
And shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow,
To cast down the poor and needy,
To slay such as are upright in the way.

³ Who have whet their tongue like a sword,
And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words, ⁴ That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect:
Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil purpose;
They commune of laying snares privily;
They say, Who will see them?

¹⁰ The righteous shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him;
And all the upright in heart shall glory.

¹⁵ For judgment shall return unto righteousness;
And all the upright in heart shall follow it.

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.

⁴ Do good, O Jehovah, unto those that are good,
And to them that are upright in their hearts.

³ When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
Thou knewest my path.
In the way wherein I walk
Have they hidden a snare for me.

³ And they bend their tongue, [as it were] their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith Jehovah.

⁴ and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

¹² And when it was day, the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. ¹³ And they were more than forty that made this conspiracy. ¹⁴ And they came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul. ¹⁵ Now therefore do ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you, as though ye would judge of his case more exactly: and we, before he comes near, are ready to slay him.

¹³ Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?
¹⁴ And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up unto the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah. ¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah, and said, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, that sittest [above] the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. ¹⁶ Incline thine ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open thine eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, wherewith he hath sent him to defy the living God. ¹⁷ Of a truth, Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, ¹⁸ and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.

¹² And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying, ¹³ Go ye, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
¹⁴ So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they communed with her.

¹³ Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands in any wise able to deliver their land out of my hand? ¹⁴ Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand? ¹⁵ Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you after this manner, neither believe ye him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?

¹⁰ And I went unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee. ¹¹ And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being such as I, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in. ¹² And I discerned, and, lo, God had not sent him; but he pronounced this prophecy against me: and Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

³ The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved:
I have set up the pillars of it. [Selah

⁵ They know not, neither do they understand;
They walk to and fro in darkness:
All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

¹² And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places; thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

¹¹ Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears. ¹² Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, Jehovah sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. ¹³ Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of Jehovah your God; and Jehovah will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. ¹⁴ But as for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as is good and right in your eyes. ¹⁵ Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth Jehovah hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.

¹⁵ Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made, [well]: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god that shall deliver you out of my hands? ¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer thee in this matter. ¹⁷ If it be [so], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of thy hand, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

¹⁰ And when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his chamber toward Jerusalem); and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. ¹¹ Then these men assembled together, and found Daniel making petition and supplication before his God. ¹² Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's interdict: Hast thou not signed an interdict, that every man that shall make petition unto any god or man within thirty days, save unto thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. ¹³ Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the interdict that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day. ¹⁴ Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored till the going down of the sun to rescue him. ¹⁵ Then these men assembled together unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no interdict nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. [Now] the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. ¹⁷ And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel. ¹⁸ Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting; neither were instruments of music brought before him: and his sleep fled from him.
¹⁹ Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions. ²⁰ And when he came near unto the den to Daniel, he cried with a lamentable voice; the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? ²¹ Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. ²² My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me; forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. ²³ Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he had trusted in his God.
²⁴ And the king commanded, and they brought those men that had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces, before they came to the bottom of the den.
²⁵ Then king Darius wrote unto all the peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied unto you. ²⁶ I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, And his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be even unto the end. ²⁷ He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
²⁸ So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

⁸ The disciples say unto him, Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone thee; and goest thou thither again? ⁹ Jesus answered, { Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. ¹⁰ But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.}

⁵ And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem; ⁶ and Annas the high priest [was there], and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest. ⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, By what power, or in what name, have ye done this? ⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders, ⁹ if we this day are examined concerning a good deed done to an impotent man, by what means this man is made whole; ¹⁰ be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] in him doth this man stand here before you whole. ¹¹ He is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner. ¹² And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.

²⁴ And they, when they heard it, lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, O Lord, thou that didst make the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is: ²⁵ who by the Holy Spirit, [by] the mouth of our father David thy servant, didst say,
Why did the Gentiles rage,
And the peoples imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth set themselves in array,
And the rulers were gathered together,
Against the Lord, and against his Anointed: ²⁷ for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ to do whatsoever thy hand and thy council foreordained to come to pass. ²⁹ And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness, ³⁰ while thy stretchest forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of thy holy Servant Jesus. ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken wherein they were gathered together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
³² And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and soul: and not one [of them] said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. ³³ And with great power gave the apostles their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

¹⁹ Howbeit the firm foundation of God standeth, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his: and, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.

³⁴ Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of meeting, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.

⁵ for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, unto this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from [one] tabernacle [to another].

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

⁴ He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh:
The Lord will have them in derision.

¹¹ Sing praises to Jehovah, who dwelleth in Zion:
Declare among the people his doings.

⁶ In my distress I called upon Jehovah,
And cried unto my God:
He heard my voice out of his temple,
And my cry before him came into his ears.

¹³ Jehovah looketh from heaven;
He beholdeth all the sons of men;

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous,
And his ears are [open] unto their cry. ¹⁶ The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil,
To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

²¹ Will not God search this out?
For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

⁷ He ruleth by his might for ever;
His eyes observe the nations:
Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. [Selah

¹⁹ Jehovah hath established his throne in the heavens;
And his kingdom ruleth over all.

³ The eyes of Jehovah are in every place,
Keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

¹ Thus saith Jehovah, Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: what manner of house will ye build unto me? and what place shall be my rest?

¹⁰ I, Jehovah, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

²⁴ Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith Jehovah. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Jehovah.

² Hear, ye peoples, all of you; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord Jehovah be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

²⁰ But Jehovah is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

¹³ Be silent, all flesh, before Jehovah; for he is waked up out of his holy habitation.

³⁴ but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God;

²¹ And he that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

⁴⁹ The heaven is my throne,
And the earth the footstool of my feet:
What manner of house will ye build me? saith the Lord:
Or what is the place of my rest?

⁴ he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.

¹³ And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

² Straightway I was in the Spirit: and behold, there was a throne set in heaven, and one sitting upon the throne;

¹ And it came to pass after these things, that God did prove Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham; and he said, Here am I.

⁴ For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness:
Evil shall not sojourn with thee. ⁵ The arrogant shall not stand in thy sight:
Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

⁹ Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous:
For the righteous God trieth the minds and hearts.

³ For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire,
And the covetous renounceth, [yea], contemneth Jehovah.

³ Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night;
Thou hast tried me, and findest nothing;
I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

⁸ Thy hand will find out all thine enemies;
Thy right hand will find out those that hate thee.

² Examine me, O Jehovah, and prove me;
Try my heart and my mind.

O Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known [me].

²³ Search me, O God, and know my heart:
Try me, and know my thoughts; ²⁴ And see if there be any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

¹⁶ There are six things which Jehovah hateth;
Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him: ¹⁷ Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood; ¹⁸ A heart that deviseth wicked purposes,
Feet that are swift in running to mischief, ¹⁹ A false witness that uttereth lies,
And he that soweth discord among brethren.

⁸ My heritage is become unto me as a lion in the forest: she hath uttered her voice against me; therefore I have hated her.

⁸ And I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.

⁹ And I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.

³ and he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer unto Jehovah offerings in righteousness.

¹² Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which [the Lord] promised to them that love him.

⁷ that the proof of your faith, [being] more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:

²⁴ Then Jehovah rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven;

³⁴ And he took [and sent] messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.

²³ And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and Jehovah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down unto the earth; and Jehovah rained hail upon the land of Egypt. ²⁴ So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

⁴ And when the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

²³ And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.

¹⁵ There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his:
Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

²³ When he is about to fill his belly,
[God] will cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him,
And will rain it upon him while he is eating.

¹³ This is the portion of a wicked man with God,
And the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty: ¹⁴ If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword;
And his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ Those that remain of him shall be buried in death,
And his widows shall make no lamentation. ¹⁶ Though he heap up silver as the dust,
And prepare raiment as the clay; ¹⁷ He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on,
And the innocent shall divide the silver. ¹⁸ He buildeth his house as the moth,
And as a booth which the keeper maketh. ¹⁹ He lieth down rich, but he shall not be gathered [to his fathers];
He openeth his eyes, and he is not. ²⁰ Terrors overtake him like waters;
A tempest stealeth him away in the night. ²¹ The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth;
And it sweepeth him out of his place. ²² For [God] shall hurl at him, and not spare:
He would fain flee out of his hand. ²³ Men shall clap their hands at him,
And shall hiss him out of his place.

⁵ Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:
Thou maintainest my lot.

⁸ For in the hand of Jehovah there is a cup, and the wine foameth;
It is full of mixture, and he poureth out of the same:
Surely the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall drain them, and drink them.

³² He gave them hail for rain,
[And] flaming fire in their land.

¹⁷ Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. ¹⁸ And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble.

¹⁷ Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that hast drunk at the hand of Jehovah the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it.

²² Thus saith thy Lord Jehovah, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thy hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath; thou shalt no more drink it again:

¹¹ At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse; ¹² a full wind from these shall come for me: now will I also utter judgments against them.

¹⁵ For thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto me: Take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it. ¹⁶ And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. ¹⁷ Then took I the cup at Jehovah's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom Jehovah had sent me:

¹³ Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my wrath; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.

²² And with pestilence and with blood will I enter into judgment with him; and I will rain upon him, and upon his hordes, and upon the many peoples that are with him, an overflowing shower, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

¹⁶ Thou art filled with shame, and not glory: drink thou also, and be as one uncircumcised; the cup of Jehovah's right hand shall come round unto thee, and foul shame shall be upon thy glory.

²⁹ but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all:

¹¹ Jesus therefore said unto Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath: the cup which the Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

⁷ He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous:
But with kings upon the throne
He setteth them for ever, and they are exalted.

¹² For thou wilt bless the righteous;
O Jehovah, thou wilt compass him with favor as with a shield.

¹¹ God is a righteous judge,
Yea, a God that hath indignation every day.

¹⁵ As for me, I shall behold thy face in righteousness;
I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with [beholding] thy form.

⁶ For thou makest him most blessed for ever:
Thou makest him glad with joy in thy presence.

⁵ He loveth righteousness and justice:
The earth is full of the lovingkindness of Jehovah.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him,
Upon them that hope in his lovingkindness;

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous,
And his ears are [open] unto their cry.

⁵ Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
And [why] art thou disquieted within me?
Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him
[For] the help of his countenance.

⁷ Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness:
Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee
With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

⁴ The king's strength also loveth justice;
Thou dost establish equity;
Thou executest justice and righteousness in Jacob.

⁸ Jehovah openeth [the eyes of] the blind;
Jehovah raiseth up them that are bowed down;
Jehovah loveth the righteous;

⁸ For I, Jehovah, love justice, I hate robbery with iniquity; and I will give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

¹² For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,
And his ears unto their supplication:
But the face of the Lord is upon them that do evil.

² Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.

⁴ and they shall see his face; and his name [shall be] on their foreheads.
