⁷ Then Herod privily called the Wise-men, and learned of them exactly what time the star appeared.

¹⁰ come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they also join themselves unto our enemies, and fight against us, and get them up out of the land.

²¹ And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son-in-law a second time.

⁹ He lurketh in secret as a lion in his covert;
He lieth in wait to catch the poor:
He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him in his net. ¹⁰ He croucheth, he boweth down,
And the helpless fall by his strong ones.

²¹ His mouth was smooth as butter,
But his heart was war:
His words were softer than oil,
Yet were they drawn swords.

⁴ That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect:
Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil purpose;
They commune of laying snares privily;
They say, Who will see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities;
We have accomplished, [say they], a diligent search:
And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.

³ They take crafty counsel against thy people,
And consult together against thy hidden ones. ⁴ They have said,
Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation;
That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

⁵ Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have purposed evil against thee, saying, ⁶ Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel; ⁷ thus saith the Lord Jehovah, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

¹⁰ Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: It shall come to pass in that day, that things shall come into thy mind, and thou shalt devise an evil device: ¹¹ and thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates;

³ Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas; ⁴ and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him. ⁵ But they said, Not during the feast, lest a tumult arise among the people.

¹ And a great sign was seen in heaven: a woman arrayed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars; ² and she was with child; and she crieth out, travailing in birth, and in pain to be delivered. ³ And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his heads seven diadems. ⁴ And his tail draweth the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon standeth before the woman that is about to be delivered, that when she is delivered he may devour her child. ⁵ And she was delivered of a son, a man child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and unto his throne.

¹⁵ And the serpent cast out of his mouth after the woman water as a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream.
