¹³ Therefore speak I to them in parables; because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

³ the great trials which thine eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders: ⁴ but Jehovah hath not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

¹⁸ Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. ¹⁹ Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I send? who is blind as he that is at peace [with me], and blind as Jehovah's servant? ²⁰ Thou seest many things, but thou observest not; his ears are open, but he heareth not.

¹⁸ They know not, neither do they consider: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

²¹ Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; that have eyes, and see not; that have ears, and hear not:

² Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of the rebellious house, that have eyes to see, and see not, that have ears to hear, and hear not; for they are a rebellious house.

¹⁶ But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.

¹⁷ And Jesus perceiving it saith unto them, { Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? do ye not yet perceive, neither understand? have ye your heart hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. ²⁰ For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his works should be reproved.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment came I into this world, that they that see not may see; and that they that see may become blind. ⁴⁰ Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said unto him, Are we also blind? ⁴¹ Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye would have no sin: but now ye say, We see: your sin remaineth.

³ And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: ⁴ in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn [upon them].
