³² It shall be accomplished before his time,
And his branch shall not be green.

¹⁶ He is green before the sun,
And his shoots go forth over his garden. ¹⁷ His roots are wrapped about the [stone]-heap,
He beholdeth the place of stones. ¹⁸ If he be destroyed from his place,
Then it shall deny him, [saying], I have not seen thee. ¹⁹ Behold, this is the joy of his way;
And out of the earth shall others spring.

⁷ For there is hope of a tree,
If it be cut down, that it will sprout again,
And that the tender branch thereof will not cease. ⁸ Though the root thereof wax old in the earth,
And the stock thereof die in the ground; ⁹ Yet through the scent of water it will bud,
And put forth boughs like a plant.

¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up beneath,
And above shall his branch be cut off. ¹⁷ His remembrance shall perish from the earth,
And he shall have no name in the street.

¹⁶ Who were snatched away before their time,
Whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

⁵ God will likewise destroy thee for ever;
He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent,
And root thee out of the land of the living. [Selah ⁶ The righteous also shall see [it], and fear,
And shall laugh at him, [saying], ⁷ Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength,
But trusted in the abundance of his riches,
And strengthened himself in his wickedness. ⁸ But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God:
I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever.

²³ But thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction:
Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days;
But I will trust in thee.

¹⁷ Be not overmuch wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

¹¹ When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off; the women shall come, and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have compassion upon them, and he that formed them will show them no favor.

⁸ It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine. ⁹ Say thou, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it may wither; that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? and not by a strong arm or much people can it be raised from the roots thereof. ¹⁰ Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the beds where it grew.

¹⁶ Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay the beloved fruit of their womb.

⁵ I will be as the dew unto Israel; he shall blossom as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. ⁶ His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive-tree, and his smell as Lebanon. ⁷ They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive [as] the grain, and blossom as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

⁶ If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
