¹⁵ in his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it (for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it); lest he cry against thee unto Jehovah, and it be sin unto thee.

²³ If thou afflict them at all, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; ²⁴ and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

¹³ Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbor, nor rob him: the wages of a hired servant shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

⁹ Beware that there be not a base thought in thy heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou give him nought; and he cry unto Jehovah against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

³⁸ If my land crieth out against me,
And the furrows thereof weep together;

²⁸ So that they caused the cry of the poor to come unto him,
And he heard the cry of the afflicted.

⁹ By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out;
They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.

⁴ He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;
Who hath not lifted up his soul unto falsehood,
And hath not sworn deceitfully.

Unto thee, O Jehovah, do I lift up my soul.

⁴ Rejoice the soul of thy servant;

²⁷ Withhold not good from them to whom it is due,
When it is in the power of thy hand to do it. ²⁸ Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again,
And to-morrow I will give;
When thou hast it by thee.

²² Rob not the poor, because he is poor;
Neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: ²³ For Jehovah will plead their cause,
And despoil of life those that despoil them.

¹⁰ Remove not the ancient landmark;
And enter not into the fields of the fatherless: ¹¹ For their Redeemer is strong;
He will plead their cause against thee.

⁷ For the vineyard of Jehovah of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for justice, but, behold, oppression; for righteousness, but, behold, a cry.

¹³ Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; that useth his neighbor's service without wages, and giveth him not his hire;

⁸ And when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

¹⁹ Thou knowest the commandments, Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor thy father and mother.}

⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
