⁹ whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.

³ And the devil said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it become bread. ⁴ And Jesus answered unto him, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone. ⁵ And he led him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. ⁷ If thou therefore wilt worship before me, it shall all be thine. ⁸ And Jesus answered and said unto him, It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ⁹ And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: ¹⁰ for it is written,
He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to guard thee: ¹¹ and,
On their hands they shall bear thee up,
Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

³² but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren.}

³³ These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.}

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

¹³ There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

²⁷ neither give place to the devil.

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places]. ¹³ Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.

¹⁶ withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil [one].

⁵ For though I am absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

¹⁵ who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove out us, and please not God, and are contrary to all men; ¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always: but the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

³ that no man be moved by these afflictions; for yourselves know that hereunto we are appointed.

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

¹² Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith:

³³ who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

⁷ Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

⁶ Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials,

²¹ For hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:

¹⁴ But even if ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed [are ye]: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled;

¹³ but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.

⁹ I John, your brother and partaker with you in the tribulation and kingdom and patience [which are] in Jesus, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

¹¹ And there was given them to each one a white robe; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little time, until their fellow-servants also and their brethren, who should be killed even as they were, should have fulfilled [their course].

¹⁴ And I say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
