³ For I say, through the grace given to me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. ¹⁹ Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

²⁷ It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

¹² See you a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

¹⁶ Be not righteous over much; neither make yourself over wise: why should you destroy yourself ?

⁸ He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

¹ At the same time came the disciples to Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? ² And Jesus called a little child to him, and set him in the middle of them, ³ And said, Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Whoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

³⁴ For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure to him.

⁵ By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

²⁰ Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Be not high minded, but fear:

²⁵ For I would not, brothers, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; ⁷ Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching; ⁸ Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

¹⁶ Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

¹⁵ Nevertheless, brothers, I have written the more boldly to you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God, ¹⁶ That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon.

⁷ For who makes you to differ from another? and what have you that you did not receive? now if you did receive it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it? ⁸ Now you are full, now you are rich, you have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

¹⁷ But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord has called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with. ⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; ⁹ To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; ¹⁰ To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: ¹¹ But all these works that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed on me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

¹³ For what is it wherein you were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.

⁸ (For he that worked effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) ⁹ And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go to the heathen, and they to the circumcision.

³ For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

² If you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

⁴ Whereby, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

⁷ Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effectual working of his power. ⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

⁷ But to every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. ⁸ Why he said, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. ⁹ (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) ¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: ¹³ Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

¹⁶ From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body to the edifying of itself in love.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. ⁴ Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: ⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took on him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

²⁹ Whereunto I also labor, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.

¹³ And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

⁹ In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with modesty and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

¹⁵ Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

² That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

⁴ That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

⁶ Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

¹² Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

⁶ But he gives more grace. Why he said, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

¹³ Why gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: be you therefore sober, and watch to prayer.

¹¹ If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

⁵ Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:

⁹ I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, receives us not.
