³ Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

⁵ That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

¹⁵ He has swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly. ¹⁶ He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him. ¹⁷ He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter. ¹⁸ That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein. ¹⁹ Because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor; because he has violently taken away an house which he built not; ²⁰ Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. ²¹ There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. ²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come on him. ²³ When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath on him, and shall rain it on him while he is eating. ²⁴ He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through. ²⁵ It is drawn, and comes out of the body; yes, the glittering sword comes out of his gall: terrors are on him. ²⁶ All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle. ²⁷ The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him. ²⁸ The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath. ²⁹ This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, ¹⁵ And said to them, What will you give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

⁴⁷ And while he yet spoke, see, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. ⁴⁹ And immediately he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him, Friend, why are you come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.

¹⁰ And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray him to them. ¹¹ And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

⁴³ And immediately, while he yet spoke, comes Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. ⁴⁴ And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. ⁴⁵ And as soon as he was come, he goes straightway to him, and said, Master, master; and kissed him. ⁴⁶ And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

² And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. ³ Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. ⁴ And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him to them. ⁵ And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. ⁶ And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁴⁷ And while he yet spoke, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him. ⁴⁸ But Jesus said to him, Judas, betray you the Son of man with a kiss?

² And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

²⁷ And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus to him, That you do, do quickly.

³ Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, comes thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.

¹⁰ For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death.
