²⁰ Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumes.

²⁴ Then the LORD rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

¹⁶ While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and has burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.

⁷ Remember, I pray you, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?

³ Does God pervert judgment? or does the Almighty pervert justice? ⁴ If your children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

⁵ For your mouth utters your iniquity, and you choose the tongue of the crafty. ⁶ Your own mouth comdemns you, and not I: yes, your own lips testify against you.

³⁰ He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

¹⁸ That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein. ¹⁹ Because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor; because he has violently taken away an house which he built not;
