¹⁴ But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

⁵ For God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

¹⁷ Then your handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the LORD your God will be with you.

⁹ Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this your so great a people?

¹¹ And God said to him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment;

³⁰ Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

¹¹ Does not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

³ For the ear tries words, as the mouth tastes meat.

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words to my taste! yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

³ Because of the smell of your good ointments your name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love you.

³ As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

¹⁵ Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

⁴⁸ Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

²² The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light. ²³ But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness!

¹ Him that is weak in the faith receive you, but not to doubtful disputations.

⁶ However, we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nothing:

¹⁴ But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. ¹⁵ But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

¹⁸ The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

¹³ Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; ¹⁰ That you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ.

¹⁵ Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing you be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this to you.

²¹ Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

² For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
