⁷ Why (as the Holy Ghost said, To day if you will hear his voice,

² The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and his word was in my tongue.

¹¹ But my people would not listen to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

¹³ Oh that my people had listened to me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

⁷ For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if you will hear his voice, ⁸ Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. ¹⁰ Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: ¹¹ To whom I swore in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

¹ Boast not yourself of to morrow; for you know not what a day may bring forth.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you go.

³ Incline your ear, and come to me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

⁶ Seek you the LORD while he may be found, call you on him while he is near:

⁵ While he yet spoke, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear you him.

⁴³ He said to them, How then does David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

³⁶ For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit you on my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.

²⁵ Truly, truly, I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

³ To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.

¹⁶ And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

¹⁶ Men and brothers, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

²⁵ And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spoke the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet to our fathers,

¹ We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that you receive not the grace of God in vain. ² (For he said, I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored you: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

¹³ But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

¹⁵ While it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

⁷ Again, he limits a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

⁸ The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

¹³ Go to now, you that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: ¹⁴ Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. ¹⁵ For that you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

²¹ For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
