⁵ Why when he comes into the world, he said, Sacrifice and offering you would not, but a body have you prepared me:

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

⁶ Sacrifice and offering you did not desire; my ears have you opened: burnt offering and sin offering have you not required. ⁷ Then said I, See, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, ⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God: yes, your law is within my heart.

⁸ I will not reprove you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, to have been continually before me. ⁹ I will take no bullock out of your house, nor he goats out of your folds. ¹⁰ For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. ¹¹ I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. ¹² If I were hungry, I would not tell you: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof. ¹³ Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? ¹⁴ Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the most High: ¹⁵ And call on me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me. ¹⁶ But to the wicked God said, What have you to do to declare my statutes, or that you should take my covenant in your mouth? ¹⁷ Seeing you hate instruction, and casts my words behind you. ¹⁸ When you saw a thief, then you consented with him, and have been partaker with adulterers. ¹⁹ You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit. ²⁰ You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son. ²¹ These things have you done, and I kept silence; you thought that I was altogether such an one as yourself: but I will reprove you, and set them in order before your eyes. ²² Now consider this, you that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. ²³ Whoever offers praise glorifies me: and to him that orders his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God.

¹¹ To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to me? said the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

²⁰ To what purpose comes there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet to me.

²² How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter? for the LORD has created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

²¹ I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. ²² Though you offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

²⁰ But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. ²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. ²² Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, ²³ Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

³ And said to him, Are you he that should come, or do we look for another?

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Ghost shall come on you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of you shall be called the Son of God.

¹⁹ And John calling to him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Are you he that should come? or look we for another?

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelled among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

⁴ But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

⁶ And again, when he brings in the first-begotten into the world, he said, And let all the angels of God worship him.

¹⁴ For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

³ For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: why it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.

⁷ Then said I, See, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do your will, O God.

¹⁰ By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.

² Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: ³ And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

⁷ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
