⁶ And Abraham said to him, Beware you that you bring not my son thither again.

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

³⁹ But we are not of them who draw back to perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

⁹ By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. ¹⁴ For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. ¹⁵ And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from where they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: why God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he has prepared for them a city.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it is happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
