⁹ And the angel of the LORD said to her, Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.

⁴ If the spirit of the ruler rise up against you, leave not your place; for yielding pacifies great offenses.

²¹ Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

⁵ Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ; ⁶ Not with eye-service, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

⁹ Exhort servants to be obedient to their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the fraudulent. ¹⁹ For this is thank worthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. ²⁰ For what glory is it, if, when you be buffeted for your faults, you shall take it patiently? but if, when you do well, and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. ²¹ For even hereunto were you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps: ²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously: ²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed. ²⁵ For you were as sheep going astray; but are now returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

⁵ Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
