¹ Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loves him that begat loves him also that is begotten of him. ² By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. ³ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. ⁴ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. ⁵ Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God? ⁶ This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. ⁷ For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. ⁸ And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. ⁹ If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he has testified of his Son. ¹⁰ He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself: he that believes not God has made him a liar; because he believes not the record that God gave of his Son. ¹¹ And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life. ¹³ These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. ¹⁴ And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: ¹⁵ And if we know that he hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. ¹⁶ If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not to death. There is a sin to death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. ¹⁷ All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not to death. ¹⁸ We know that whoever is born of God sins not; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not. ¹⁹ And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness. ²⁰ And we know that the Son of God is come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ²¹ Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

⁷ Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for you, and you shall live: and if you restore her not, know you that you shall surely die, you, and all that are yours.

³¹ And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. ³² Yet now, if you will forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray you, out of your book which you have written.

⁹ And he said, If now I have found grace in your sight, O LORD, let my LORD, I pray you, go among us; for it is a stiff necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.

¹¹ For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you on the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul.

¹¹ And the LORD said to Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them? ¹² I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a greater nation and mightier than they. ¹³ And Moses said to the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for you brought up this people in your might from among them;) ¹⁴ And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that you LORD are among this people, that you LORD are seen face to face, and that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. ¹⁵ Now if you shall kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying, ¹⁶ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness. ¹⁷ And now, I beseech you, let the power of my LORD be great, according as you have spoken, saying, ¹⁸ The LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation. ¹⁹ Pardon, I beseech you, the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your mercy, and as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. ²⁰ And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to your word: ²¹ But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

³⁰ But the soul that does ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproaches the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

²⁶ And he spoke to the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest you be consumed in all their sins. ²⁷ So they got up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. ²⁸ And Moses said, Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of my own mind. ²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD has not sent me. ³⁰ But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down quick into the pit; then you shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. ³¹ And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground split asunder that was under them: ³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: has he said, and shall he not do it? or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

¹⁰ And showing mercy to thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

³² You shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you: you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

⁴ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

⁹ Know therefore that the LORD your God, he is God, the faithful God, which keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

¹⁸ And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which you sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. ¹⁹ For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, with which the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD listened to me at that time also. ²⁰ And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.

¹² And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, ¹³ To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command you this day for your good?

³² What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

²⁵ If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall entreat for him? Notwithstanding they listened not to the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one ¹⁹ That prepares his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary. ²⁰ And the LORD listened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

²⁵ And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?

²⁸ So that they cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and he hears the cry of the afflicted.

⁷ And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends: for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has. ⁸ Therefore take to you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that you have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job. ⁹ So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

⁴ Concerning the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

²³ I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity.

⁷ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸ The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. ¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. ¹¹ Moreover by them is your servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

¹⁴ The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.

²² For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before your eyes: nevertheless you heard the voice of my supplications when I cried to you.

⁶ By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

¹⁷ The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

¹ I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

³³ For the LORD hears the poor, and despises not his prisoners.

²³ Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

⁴⁵ And I will walk at liberty: for I seek your precepts.

¹⁰¹ I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep your word.

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words to my taste! yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! ¹⁰⁴ Through your precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love your commandments above gold; yes, above fine gold. ¹²⁸ Therefore I esteem all your precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

¹⁴⁰ Your word is very pure: therefore your servant loves it.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

³² For the fraudulent is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

²³ Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

²⁹ The LORD is far from the wicked: but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, said the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

⁶ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: and the government shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

⁶ Thus said the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

³ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, which call you by your name, am the God of Israel. ⁴ For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel my elect, I have even called you by your name: I have surnamed you, though you have not known me.

¹⁴ Thus said the LORD, The labor of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you, and they shall be yours: they shall come after you; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down to you, they shall make supplication to you, saying, Surely God is in you; and there is none else, there is no God. ¹⁵ Truly you are a God that hide yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior.

²¹ Tell you, and bring them near; yes, let them take counsel together: who has declared this from ancient time? who has told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me. ²² Look to me, and be you saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. ²³ I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. ²⁴ Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. ²⁵ In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

¹⁶ Come you near to me, hear you this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, has sent me. ¹⁷ Thus said the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD your God which teaches you to profit, which leads you by the way that you should go.

¹ Who has believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

⁵ For your Maker is your husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and your Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

¹⁶ Therefore pray not you for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear you.

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

¹² Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel? ¹³ Your substance and your treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all your sins, even in all your borders.

¹⁸ Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? will you be altogether to me as a liar, and as waters that fail?

Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words. ¹⁹ Give heed to me, O LORD, and listen to the voice of them that contend with me. ²⁰ Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dig a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before you to speak good for them, and to turn away your wrath from them. ²¹ Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.

⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. ³¹ Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, O house of Israel? ³² For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, said the Lord GOD: why turn yourselves, and live you.

³⁰ And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

²⁵ Then will I sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

⁴ And I prayed to the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

³¹ Why I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven to men. ³² And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

¹⁹ We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
