² By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain.

¹² Then believed they his words; they sang his praise. ¹³ They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel:

¹ My son, forget not my law; but let your heart keep my commandments:

¹³ Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is your life.

²⁰ My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not the law of your mother: ²¹ Bind them continually on your heart, and tie them about your neck. ²² When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you wake, it shall talk with you. ²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

²³ Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

¹³ They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

³¹ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; ³² And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

⁴⁷ Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

¹³ Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

²² Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness: otherwise you also shall be cut off.

¹⁸ For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but to us which are saved it is the power of God.

²¹ For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

¹¹ Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so you believed. ¹² Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

¹⁴ And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

¹⁵ For we are to God a sweet smell of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

¹ We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that you receive not the grace of God in vain.

⁴ Have you suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

⁸ For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

²³ If you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

¹⁵ Therefore, brothers, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by word, or our letter.

⁹ Who has saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

¹ Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

⁶ But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

¹⁴ For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end;

¹⁴ Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

²³ Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

¹⁴ What does it profit, my brothers, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

¹⁷ Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.

²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
