¹³ The fig tree ripens her green figs, and the vines are in blossom. They give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

¹⁰ My beloved spoke, and said to me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

¹¹ I went down into the garden of nuts, to see the green plants of the valley, to see whether the vine budded, and the pomegranates were in flower.

⁸ I said, I will climb up into the palm tree. I will take hold of the branches of it. Let thy breasts be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy breath like apples,

¹¹ Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field. Let us lodge in the villages. ¹² Let us get up early to the vineyards. Let us see whether the vine has budded, its blossom is open, the pomegranates are in flower. There I will give thee my love. ¹³ The mandrakes give forth fragrance. And at our doors are all manner of precious fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.

⁵ For before the harvest, when the blossom is over, and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the sprigs with pruning-hooks, and he will take away and cut down the spreading branches.

¹⁰ For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven, and returns not there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater, ¹¹ so shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth. It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please. And it shall prosper in the thing to which I sent it.

¹¹ For as the earth brings forth its bud, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the lord LORD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

⁶ His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

¹⁹ Is the seed yet in the barn? Yea, the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not brought forth. From this day I will bless you.

³² Now learn a parable from the fig tree. When its branch now becomes tender, and sprouts leaves, ye know that the summer is near.

⁶ And he spoke this parable. A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. ⁷ And he said to the vine workman, Behold, three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none. Cut it down, why also waste the ground?

⁴² saying, If thou knew, even thou, indeed even in this thy day, the things for thy peace. But now they are hidden from thine eyes.

²⁰ We are therefore, ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were calling through us. We plead on behalf of Christ, be ye reconciled to God.

¹ And working jointly, we urge you also not to receive the grace of God in vain ² (for he says, At an acceptable time I heard thee, and in a day of salvation I helped thee. Behold, now is an acceptable time. Behold, now is a day of salvation),
