¹⁰ having stood from afar because of the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, the great city, Babylon, the mighty city! Because thy judgment has come in one hour.

³⁴ And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them, for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.

⁹ and, behold, here comes a troop of men, horsemen in pairs. And he answered and said, Fallen, fallen is Babylon. And all the graven images of her gods are broken to the ground.

⁷ Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it. It is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.

⁸ Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed. Wail for her. Take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed. ⁹ We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed. Forsake her, and let us go each one into his own country. For her judgment reaches to heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

¹⁵ Alas for the day! For the day of LORD is at hand, and it shall come as destruction from the Almighty.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all the broad ways. And they shall say in all the streets, Alas! Alas! And they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailing.

⁸ And another, a second agent, followed, saying, Babylon the great has fallen, has fallen. She has given all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

¹² And the ten horns that thou saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings one hour with the beast.

⁸ Because of this her plagues will come in one day, death, and grief, and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, because strong is the Lord, the God who judged her.

¹⁵ The merchants of these things who became rich from her will stand from afar because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, ¹⁶ and saying, Alas, alas, the great city, which was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stone and pearls! ¹⁷ Because in one hour such great wealth was devastated. And every shipmaster, and every man who sails anywhere, and sailors, and as many as work by sea, stood from afar

¹⁹ And they cast dust on their heads, and cried out, weeping and mourning, and saying, Alas, alas, the great city in which all who had ships in the sea became rich from her luxuriance! Because in one hour she was devastated.
