³⁷ And Balak said to Balaam, Did I not earnestly send to thee to call thee? Why did thou not come to me? Am I not able indeed to promote thee to honor?

¹⁶ And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus says Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming to me. ¹⁷ For I will promote thee to very great honor, and whatever thou say to me I will do. Come therefore, I pray thee, curse this people for me.

¹¹ Therefore now flee thou to thy place. I thought to promote thee to great honor, but, lo, LORD has kept thee back from honor.

⁶ For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes lifting up.

⁸ Again, the devil takes him onto an exceedingly high mountain, and shows him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them. ⁹ And he says to him, All these things I give thee, if after falling down, thou will worship me.

⁶ And the devil said to him, I will give to thee all this authority, and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I want I give it.

⁴⁴ How can ye believe, who receive glory from each other, and seek not the glory from the only God?
