¹⁵ I will yet bring to thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah, him who shall possess thee. The glory of Israel shall come even to Adullam.

⁴⁴ and Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages.

¹ David therefore departed from there, and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him.

⁷ And Beth-zur, and Soco, and Adullam,

For everyone who is left in the midst of the land shall eat butter and honey. ²³ And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver coins, shall be for briers and thorns. ²⁴ Men shall come there with arrows and with bow, because all the land shall be briers and thorns. ²⁵ And all the hills that were dug with the mattock, thou shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns, but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.

³ And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? To whom will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your glory?

⁵ Ho, Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation! ⁶ I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people of my wrath. I will give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
