¹⁷ who forsakes the companion of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God

¹⁴ Yet ye say, Why? Because LORD has been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou have dealt treacherously, though she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

⁹ What therefore God has joined together, no man shall separate.

² For the woman under authority to the living husband has been bound by law, but if the husband should die, she has been released from the law of the husband.

¹⁰ And to those who are married, I do not command but the Lord. The wife is not to separate from her husband. ¹¹ But even if she separates, she shall remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to leave his wife. ¹² But to the rest I say, not the Lord. If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and this woman consents to dwell with him, he should not leave her. ¹³ And whichever woman has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to dwell with her, she should not leave him. ¹⁴ For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified by the husband, then otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

²⁸ So ought the husbands to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

⁴ Marriage is precious in every way, and the undefiled bed, but God will judge fornicators and adulterers.
