Titus 1 Cross References - ABU

1 PAUL, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of God's chosen, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness; 2 upon hope of eternal life, which God, who can not lie, promised before eternal ages, 3 but in its own times manifested his word in the preaching, with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of our Savior God; 4 to Titus, a true child according to the common faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior. 5 For this cause I left thee behind in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and appoint elders in each city, as I directed thee; 6 if any one is without reproach, the husband of one wife, having believing children not accused of rioting or unruly. 7 For the overseer must be, without reproach, as God's steward; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, not a striker, not greedy of gain; 8 but hospitable, a lover of the good, discreet, just, holy, temperate; 9 holding fast the faithful word according to the teaching, that he may be able with the sound teaching both to exhort, and to refute the gainsayers. 10 For there are many unruly vain talkers and deceivers, chiefly they of the circumcision; 11 whose mouths must be stopped, who overturn whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of base gain. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said: Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons. 13 This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure; but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and for every good work reprobate.

15 So then, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye were taught, whether by word, or by our letter.

1 Timothy 1:10

10 for fornicators, for those who defile themselves with mankind, for enslavers of men, for liars, for false swearers, and whatever else is contrary to the sound teachings;

1 Timothy 1:15

15 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

1 Timothy 1:19

19 having faith, and a good conscience, which some thrusting away made shipwreck concerning the faith.

1 Timothy 4:9

9 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptance.

2 Timothy 1:13

13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou heardest from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 4:3

3 For the time will come when they will not endure the sound teaching, but according to their own desires will to themselves heap up teachers, having itching ears;

Titus 1:11

11 whose mouths must be stopped, who overturn whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of base gain.

Titus 2:1

1 BUT do thou speak the things which become the sound teaching;

Titus 2:7-8

7 In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works; in teaching, showing uncorruptness, gravity, 8 sound speech, that can not be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be put to shame, having no evil thing to say of us.

Revelation 2:25

25 but that which ye have, hold fast till I come.

Revelation 3:3

3 Remember therefore how thou hast received, and didst hear, and keep, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come upon thee.

11 I come quickly; hold fast that which thou hast, that no one may take thy crown.

2 And when Peter went up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,

Acts 15:1

1 AND certain men, coming down from Judaea, taught the brethren: Except ye are circumcised after the custom of Moses, ye can not be saved.

Acts 15:24

24 Forasmuch as we heard, that some who went out from us troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying that ye must be circumcised and keep the law, to whom we gave no commandment;

Acts 20:29

29 For I know this, that after my departure grievous wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Romans 16:17-18

17 Now I beseech you, brethren, to mark those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the teaching which ye learned, and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and by their good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

2 Corinthians 11:12-15

12 But what I do, and will do, is that I may cut off the occasion of those who desire an occasion, that wherein they boast they may be found even as we. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder; for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 It is no great thing then, if also his ministers transform themselves as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Galatians 1:6-8

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removing from him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel; 7 which is not another, except that there are some who trouble you, and wish to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach a gospel to you contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed.

Galatians 2:4

4 and that because of the false brethren stealthily brought in, who crept in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage;

Galatians 3:1

1 O FOOLISH Galatians, who bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Galatians 4:17-21

17 They zealously seek you, not well; but they wish to exclude you, that ye may zealously seek them. 18 But it is good to be zealously sought in a good cause always, and not only when I am present with you. 19 My little children, of whom I travail again in birth, until Christ be formed in you! 20 And I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I am perplexed on account of you. 21 Tell me, ye who desire to be under law, do ye not hear the law?

Galatians 5:1-4

1 STAND fast, therefore, in the liberty with which Christ made us free, and be not again entangled with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I, Paul, say to you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 Now I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised, that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 Ye are separated from Christ, whoever of you are justified in the law; ye are fallen away from grace.

Ephesians 4:14

14 that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, by cunning craftiness after the wily manner of error;

Philippians 3:2-3

2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision. 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

10 and in all deceit of unrighteousness for those who perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God sends them a working of delusion, in order that they may believe the lie; 12 that they may all be judged, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

1 Timothy 1:4

4 nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which further disputes rather than God's dispensation, which is in faith, [so do.]

1 Timothy 1:6

6 from which some swerving turned aside to idle prattling;

1 Timothy 6:3-5

3 If any one teaches otherwise, and assents not to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching which is according to godliness, 4 he is puffed up with pride, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 vain disputings of men corrupted in mind, and robbed of the truth, supposing that godliness is a means of gain.

2 Timothy 3:13

13 But evil men and seducers will grow worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

2 Timothy 4:4

4 and they will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to fables.

James 1:26

26 If any one thinks that he is religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

2 Peter 2:1-2

1 BUT there were false prophets also among the people, as there will be false teachers among you also, who stealthily will bring in destructive factions, even denying as Master him who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their dissolute ways; by reason of whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of.

Revelation 2:14

14 But I have a few things against thee. Thou hast there men holding the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat things offered to idols, and to commit fornication.

Matthew 23:13

13 But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for ye go not in, nor suffer those who are entering to go in:

Luke 20:40

40 For they no longer dared to ask him any question.

John 10:12

12 But he that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees; and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep.

Romans 3:19

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

2 Corinthians 11:10

10 As the truth of Christ is in me, this boasting shall not be shut up against me in the regions of Achaia.

9 holding fast the faithful word according to the teaching, that he may be able with the sound teaching both to exhort, and to refute the gainsayers.

10 A man that causes divisions, after a first and second admonition, avoid;

2 Peter 2:1-3

1 BUT there were false prophets also among the people, as there will be false teachers among you also, who stealthily will bring in destructive factions, even denying as Master him who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their dissolute ways; by reason of whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of. 3 And in covetousness will they with feigned words make merchandise of you; for whom the judgment from of old lingers not, and their destruction slumbers not.

Acts 17:28

28 for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as also some of your own poets have said: For his offspring also are we.

2 Peter 2:12

12 But these, as natural brute beasts born to be taken and destroyed, railing at things that they understand not, shall utterly perish in their own corruption,

2 Peter 2:15

15 forsaking the right way, they went astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

Jude 1:8-13

8 Yet, in like manner, these also in their dreamings defile the flesh, despise dominion, and rail at dignities. 9 But Michael the archangel, when, contending with the Devil, he disputed concerning the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a railing judgment, but said: The Lord rebuke thee. 10 But these rail at the things which they know not; but what things naturally, as the brute beasts, they understand, in these they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe to them! For they went in the way of Cain, and rushed on in the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah. 12 These are rocks in your feasts of love, feasting with you fearlessly, feeding their own selves; clouds without water, carried away by winds; autumnal trees, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13 raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever.

2 Corinthians 7:8-12

8 Because, though I made you sorry with the letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it; for I perceive that that letter made you sorry, though but for a season. 9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye were made sorry unto repentance; for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might in nothing receive harm from us. 10 For godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world works out death. 11 For behold this very thing, that ye were made sorry after a godly manner, what earnestness it wrought in you; yea, what clearing of yourselves; yea, what indignation; yea, what fear; yea, what longing desire; yea, what zeal; yea, what avenging! In every thing ye commended yourselves as pure in the matter. 12 So then, though I wrote to you, it was not on account of him who did the wrong, nor of him who suffered wrong, but that your care for us might be made manifest to you in the sight of God.

2 Corinthians 13:10

10 For this cause I write these things being absent, that when present I may not use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord gave me for edification, and not for destruction.

22 (which are all to perish with the using,) after the commandments and teachings of men?

1 Timothy 1:4-7

4 nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which further disputes rather than God's dispensation, which is in faith, [so do.] 5 Now the end of the commandment is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned; 6 from which some swerving turned aside to idle prattling; 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

25 See that ye refuse not him who speaks; for if they did not escape, refusing him who declared the divine will on earth, much more shall not we, who turn away from him who speaks from heaven;

But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

1 Corinthians 8:7

7 But there is not in all men this knowledge; for some, with a consciousness till now of the idol, eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

1 Corinthians 10:23

23 All things are lawful, but not all things are expedient; all things are lawful, but not all things edify.

27 So that whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup. 29 For he that eats and drinks, eats and drinks condemnation to himself, if he discern not the body.

1 Timothy 4:3-4

3 forbidding to marry, commanding to abstain from food, which God created to be received with thanksgiving, for those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving;

14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Thou that preachest, a man should not steal, dost thou steal? 22 Thou that sayest, a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? 23 Thou that makest thy boast in law, through the transgression of the law dishonorest thou God? 24 For, the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, as it is written.

2 Timothy 3:5-8

5 having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; and from these turn away. 6 For of these are they who creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 ever learning, and never able to come to the full knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so also do these withstand the truth; men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.
