¹⁷ When therefore they were assembled, Pilate said to them: Whom will ye that I release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?

¹⁶ and Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

²¹ And the governor answering said to them: Which of the two will ye that I release to you? And they said: Barabbas. ²² Pilate says to them: What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all say to him: Let him be crucified.

⁹ And Pilate answered them, saying: Will ye that I release to you the King of the Jews? ¹⁰ For he knew that through envy the chief priests had delivered him up. ¹¹ But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should rather release to them Barabbas. ¹² And Pilate answering, said again to them: What will ye then that I shall do to him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

¹⁵ But they cried out: Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate says to them: Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered: We have no king but Caesar.
