¹⁰ nor bag for the journey, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staff; for the laborer is worthy of his living.

¹¹ He answering says to them: He that has two coats, let him impart to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise.

⁷ And in that house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give; for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. ⁸ And into whatever city ye enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you; ⁹ and heal the sick that are therein, and say to them: The kingdom of God has come nigh unto you. ¹⁰ But into whatever city ye enter and they receive you not, go out into the streets of the same, and say: ¹¹ Even the dust of your city that cleaves to our feet, we wipe off to you; yet know this, that the kingdom of God has come nigh. ¹² I say to you, that it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

⁴ Have we not power to eat and to drink? ⁵ Have we not power to lead about a sister as a wife, as well as the other apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? ⁶ Or have only I and Barnabas not power to forbear working? ⁷ Who ever goes to war at his own charges? Who plants a vineyard, and eats not of the fruit thereof? Or who tends a flock, and eats not of the milk of the flock? ⁸ Say I these things as a man? Or does not the law also say these things? ⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses: Thou shalt not muzzle an ox while treading out the grain. Is it for the oxen that God cares? ¹⁰ Or does he say it altogether for our sakes? For, for our sakes it was written; that he who plows ought to plow in hope; and he who threshes, in hope of partaking. ¹¹ If we sowed for you, the things that are spiritual, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? ¹² If others partake of this power over you, do not we still more? But we used not this power; but we bear all things, that we may not cause any hindrance to the gospel of Christ. ¹³ Do ye not know that they who minister about the holy things eat of the temple, and they who wait at the altar partake with the altar? ¹⁴ So also did the Lord appoint to those who preach the gospel, to live by the gospel.

⁶ But let him that is taught in the word share with him that teaches, in all good things. ⁷ Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

¹⁷ Let elders who preside well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and teaching. ¹⁸ For the Scripture says: Thou shalt not muzzle an ox while treading out the grain; and, The laborer is worthy of his hire.
