¹⁶ And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day; and he stood up to read.

²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets: He shall be called a Nazarene.

⁵⁴ And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue; so that they were astonished, and said: Whence has this man this wisdom, and the miracles? Is not this the carpenter's son? ⁵⁵ Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?

And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

²⁶ And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, ²⁷ to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

³⁹ And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

⁴² And when he was twelve years old, they having gone up according to the custom of the feast,

⁵¹ And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

¹⁵ And he taught in their synagogues, being honored by all.
