Hebrews 6 Cross References - ABU

1 WHEREFORE, leaving the first principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of immersions, and of the laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do, if God permit. 4 For it is impossible that they who have once been enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 and have fallen away, should again be renewed to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to open shame. 7 For the earth which has drunk in the rain oft coming upon it, and brings forth herbs fit for those for whose sake it is tilled, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers it is rejected, and is near to cursing; whose end is to be burned. 9 But, beloved, we are persuaded of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered and still do minister to the saints. 11 But we desire that each one of you show the same diligence, for the full assurance of the hope unto the end; 12 that ye may not become slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 13 For when God made the promise to Abraham, because he could swear by none greater, he swore by himself, 14 saying: Surely, blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater; and the oath is to them an end of all gainsaying, for a confirmation. 17 Wherein God, wishing more abundantly to show to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath; 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible that God should lie, we may have strong encouragement, who fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us, 19 which we have as an anchor of the soul, sure and steadfast, and entering within the vail; 20 where as forerunner for us Jesus entered, having become a high priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.

For they all had her. 29 Jesus answering said to them: Ye err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying: 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? 1 Corinthians 1:12-17

12 And I mean this, that each of you says, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye immersed in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I immersed none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; 15 that no one may say that I immersed in my own name. 16 And I immersed also the household of Stephanas; besides, I know not whether I immersed any other. 17 For Christ did not send me to immerse, but to preach the glad tidings; not with wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

2 and were all immersed unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

1 Corinthians 12:13

13 For by one Spirit we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:13-57

13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither has Christ risen; 14 and if Christ has not risen, then is our preaching vain, and vain also your faith. 15 And we are also found false witnesses of God; because we testified of God, that he raised up Christ; whom he raised not, if it be so that the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, neither has Christ risen; 17 and if Christ has not risen, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18 Then also they who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 20 But now Christ has risen from the dead, the first-fruits of those who sleep. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ will all be made alive. 23 But each in his own order; Christ the first-fruits; afterward they who are Christ's at his coming. 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers up the kingdom to God, the Father; when he shall have done away all rule, and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he has put all enemies under his feet. 26 As the last enemy, Death shall be done away. For he subjected all things under his feet. 27 But when he says, All things are subjected, it is manifest that he is excepted, who subjected all things to him. 28 And when all things shall be subjected to him, then will also the Son himself be subject to him who subjected all things to him, that God may be all in all. 29 Else what shall they do who are immersed for the dead? If the dead rise not at all, why are they then immersed for them? 30 Why also are we in peril every hour? 31 I protest by my glorying in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. 32 If after the manner of men I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what is the profit to me, if the dead rise not? Let us eat and drink; For to-morrow we die. 33 Be not deceived; evil communications corrupt good manners. 34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God. I say it to your shame. 35 But some one will say: How do the dead rise? And with what kind of body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die; 37 and what thou sowest, not the body that shall be sowest thou, but bare grain, perchance of wheat, or of some other grain. 38 But God gives it a body as it pleased him, and to each of the seeds its own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh; but there is one flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, another of birds. 40 There are also heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly is one, and that of the earthly is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it rises in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it rises in glory. It is sown in weakness, it rises in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it rises a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual. 45 So also it is written: The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam a life-giving spirit. 46 But the spiritual is not first, but the natural; and afterward the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the earthy, such are they also that are earthy; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we bore the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 And this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 And when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then will be brought to pass the saying, that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 Where, O death, is thy sting? Where, O death, is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also those who fell asleep through Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say to you, in the word of the Lord, that we the living, who remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who fell asleep. 16 Because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ will first rise. 17 Then we the living, who remain, will be caught up together with them in clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore, encourage one another with these words.

And books were opened; and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life; and the dead were judged out of the things written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and the underworld gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged each one according to their works. 14 And death and the underworld were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if any one was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

31 Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven to men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come.

26 For if we willingly sin, after having received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and a fiery indignation, which will devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy, under two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, suppose ye, will he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has accounted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite to the Spirit of grace?

1 NOW concerning the collection for the saints, as I gave order to the churches of Galatia, so also do ye. 2 On each first day of the week, let every one of you lay by him in store, according as he is prospered, that there may be no collections when I come. 3 And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve, them I will send with letters to carry your benefaction to Jerusalem.

2 Corinthians 8:1-9

1 AND we made known to you, brethren, the grace of God which has been bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; 2 that in much trial of affliction was the abundance of their joy, and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality. 3 For according to their power, I bear witness, and beyond their power, they were willing of themselves; 4 with much entreaty beseeching of us the grace, and the participation in the ministering to the saints; 5 and not as we expected, but themselves they gave first to the Lord, and to us by the will of God. 6 So that we exhorted Titus, that as he had before begun, so he would also finish among you this grace also. 7 But, as in everything ye abound, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and all diligence, and your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. 8 I say it not by way of command, but through the forwardness of others proving also the sincerity of your love. 9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death. 15 Every one that hates his brother is a murderer; and ye know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 16 In this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has the world's sustenance, and sees his brother having need, and shuts up his pity from him, how abides the love of God in him? 18 Little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Hebrews 10:32-35

32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were enlightened, ye endured a great contest of sufferings; 33 partly, whilst ye were made a spectacle both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became partakers with those who were so used. 34 For ye sympathized with those in bonds, and ye took joyfully the plundering of your goods, knowing that ye have for yourselves a better and an enduring substance. 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward.

1 Peter 1:3-5

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy begot us again unto a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead; 4 unto an inheritance imperishable, and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who by the power of God are kept through faith, unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

2 Peter 1:5-8

5 yea for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; and to fortitude, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, patience; and to patience, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these things are in you, and abound, they cause that ye shall not be inactive nor unfruitful in attaining to the full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure; for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.

1 John 3:1-3

1 BEHOLD what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. For this cause the world knows not us, because it knew not him. 2 Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it was never yet manifested what we shall be. We know that if it shall be manifested, we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And every one, that has this hope on him, purifies himself even as he is pure.

Hebrews 11:8-17

8 By faith Abraham when called obeyed, to go forth into a place which he should afterward receive for an inheritance, and went forth, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he looked for the city which has the foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 11 By faith Sarah herself also received power to conceive seed, even when she was past age, because she accounted him faithful who had promised. 12 Wherefore also there sprang from one, and him become as dead, even as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar, and greeted them, and professed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth. 14 For they that say such things declare plainly, that they are seeking a country. 15 And if indeed, they had in mind that from which they came out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly; wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he prepared for them a city. 17 By faith Abraham, when tried, has offered up Isaac; and he who had accepted the promises offered up his only begotten,

Romans 4:17-25

17 (as it is written: A father of many nations have I made thee,) before God whom he believed, who quickens the dead, and calls the things that are not as though they were; 18 who against hope believed in hope, that he should become father of many nations, according to that which was spoken: So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body already dead, being about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb. 20 And in respect to the promise of God he wavered not through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully persuaded, that what he has promised he is able also to perform. 22 Wherefore also it was reckoned to him for righteousness. 23 And it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned to him; 24 but for ours also, to whom it shall be reckoned, if we believe on him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 who was delivered up for our offenses, and was raised for our justification.

2 Corinthians 5:18-21

18 And all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 as that God was in Christ reconciling a world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 We are then ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were beseeching by us; on behalf of Christ we pray: Be reconciled to God! 21 Him who knew not sin he made to be sin for us, that we might become God's righteousness in him.

Romans 5:5-10

5 and hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God has been poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Spirit which was given to us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due season Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; though, for the good man, perhaps some one does even dare to die. 8 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more therefore, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath through him. 10 For if, being enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his son; much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;

Romans 8:28-39

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. 29 Because whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren. 30 And whom he predestined, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who shall be against us? 32 He who spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's chosen? God is he that justifies; 34 who is he that condemns? Christ is he that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: For, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present nor things to come, 39 neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hebrews 7:1-21

1 FOR this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth of all; first indeed being interpreted King of righteousness, and then also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 without father, without mother, without table of descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life, but likened to the Son of God, remains a priest continually. 4 Now consider how great this man was, to whom Abraham the patriarch also gave a tenth of the spoils. 5 And they indeed that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they have come out of the loins of Abraham; 6 but he whose descent is not reckoned from them has taken tithes of Abraham, and has blessed him who had the promises. 7 And without any contradiction, the less is blessed by the better. 8 And here indeed men who die receive tithes; but there, one of whom it is testified that he lives. 9 And so to speak, Levi also, who receives tithes, has paid tithes in Abraham; 10 for he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchizedek met him. 11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there that a different priest should arise, after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there comes also a change of law. 13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertains to a different tribe, of which no one has given attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord has arisen out of Judah; of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. 15 And it is yet more abundantly manifest, if after the similitude of Melchizedek there arises a different priest, 16 who has been made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an indissoluble life. 17 For it is testified of him: Thou art a priest forever; After the order of Melchizedek. 18 For on the one hand, there is an annulling of the commandment that went before, on account of its weakness and unprofitableness,— 19 for the law perfected nothing,—and on the other the bringing in of a better hope, by which we draw near to God. 20 And inasmuch as it was not without an oath,— 21 for they indeed were made priests without an oath, but he with an oath by him who said to him: The Lord swore and will not repent, thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek,—
