⁶ And it came to pass, that as I journeyed, and came near to Damascus, about midday, there suddenly flashed around me a great light out of heaven.

² And he was transfigured before them; and his face shone as the sun, and his garments became white as the light.

³ And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus. And suddenly there flashed around him a light from heaven; ⁴ and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? ⁵ And he said: Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said: I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest. ⁶ But arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. ⁷ And the men who journeyed with him were standing speechless, hearing the voice, but seeing no one. ⁸ And Saul arose from the earth; and his eyes being opened, he saw nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.

¹² Whereupon, as I went to Damascus with authority and a commission from the chief priests, ¹³ at midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. ¹⁴ And we all having fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking to me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kick against the goads. ¹⁵ And I said: Who art thou, Lord? And he said: I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest. ¹⁶ But arise, and stand upon thy feet; for I appeared to thee for this purpose, to appoint thee a minister and a witness both of the things which thou sawest, and of the things in which I will appear to thee; ¹⁷ delivering thee from the people, and the Gentiles, to whom I send thee, ¹⁸ to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may obtain forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance among the sanctified, by faith in me.

¹⁶ And he had in his hand seven stars; and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword; and his countenance was as the sun shining in his strength.
