¹ PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, ² to Timothy, a beloved child: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. ³ I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; ⁴ longing to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; ⁵ calling to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that it dwells in thee also. ⁶ For which cause I put thee in remembrance, that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the laying on of my hands. ⁷ For God did not give us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of chastisement. ⁸ Be not then ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship with me for the gospel, according to the power of God; ⁹ who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose, and the grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before eternal ages, ¹⁰ but now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ; who abolished death, and brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel; ¹¹ for which I was appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. ¹² For which cause I suffer also these things. But I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him, unto that day. ¹³ Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou heardest from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁴ The good thing committed to thee keep, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. ¹⁵ Thou knowest this, that all those in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. ¹⁶ The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; because he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; ¹⁷ but when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. ¹⁸ The Lord grant to him, that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day! And in how many things he ministered to me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say to you, he that hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has everlasting life, and comes not into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

³⁹ Search the Scriptures; because in them ye think ye have eternal life, and these are they that testify of me; ⁴⁰ and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

⁴⁰ For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵⁴ He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

²⁸ and I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one pluck them out of my hand.

³ And this is the eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou didst send.

²¹ that as sin reigned in death, so also might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life, in Jesus Christ our Lord.

²⁰ For however many are the promises of God, in him is the yea, and in him the Amen, to the glory of God through us.

⁶ that the Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers with us of the promise, in Christ Jesus, through the gospel;

¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the true life.

² upon hope of eternal life, which God, who can not lie, promised before eternal ages,

¹⁵ And for this cause he is mediator of a new covenant, in order that, death having taken place, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, they who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

³ Seeing that his divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and might; ⁴ through which he has given us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world through lust;

²⁵ And this is the promise which he himself promised to us, the life eternal.

¹¹ And this is the witness, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has the life; he that has not the Son of God has not the life. ¹³ These things I wrote to you, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, who believe on the name of the Son of God.

¹ AND he came down to Derbe and Lystra. And, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a believing Jewish woman, but whose father was a Greek;

⁷ to all the beloved of God that are in Rome, called to be saints: Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place to the wrath [of God]. For it is written: To me belongs vengeance; I will recompense, saith the Lord.

¹ THEREFORE, my brethren beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.

² to Timothy, a true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹ THOU therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

³⁷ and she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, who departed not from the temple, serving day and night with fastings and prayers.

³ And he says: I am a Jew, born indeed in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, taught at the feet of Gamaliel, according to the strictness of the law of the fathers, being zealous for God, as ye all are this day.

¹ AND Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said: Men, brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God unto this day.

¹⁴ But this I acknowledge to thee, that according to the way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of our fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and the prophets;

¹⁶ Therefore do I also myself strive to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and men.

⁴ My manner of life, therefore, from my youth, which was from the beginning among my own nation at Jerusalem, all Jews know;

²³ For there stood by me this night an angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of in all the world. ⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, how without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

¹ I SAY the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,

¹² For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom, but in the grace of God, did we deport ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹⁴ and pressed forward in Judaism beyond many companions of the same age in my nation, being more exceedingly a zealot for the traditions of my fathers.

¹⁶ cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;

² We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; ³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, before God and our Father;

¹⁰ night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

⁵ Now the end of the commandment is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned;

¹⁹ having faith, and a good conscience, which some thrusting away made shipwreck concerning the faith.

⁵ calling to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that it dwells in thee also.

¹⁵ and that from a child thou didst know the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

⁸ Jesus Christ is yesterday and to-day the same, and forever.

²² And so ye now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you.

²⁴ Hitherto ye asked nothing in my name. Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be made full.

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind, and with tears, and trials which befell me by the plottings of the Jews;

³¹ Therefore watch, remembering that for the space of three years, night and day, I ceased not to warn every one with tears.

³⁷ And they all wept sorely, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him; ³⁸ sorrowing most of all for the word which he had spoken, that they should behold his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.

¹¹ For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

³⁰ And I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; ³¹ that I may be delivered from the unbelieving in Judaea, and that my service which is for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the saints; ³² that with joy I may come to you by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

⁸ For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all, with the tender affection of Jesus Christ.

²⁶ For he was longing after you all, and was much distressed, because ye heard that he was sick.

¹⁷ But we, brethren, having been severed from you for a short time, in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly to see your face, with great desire.

⁹ Endeavor to come to me shortly.

²¹ Endeavor to come before winter. Eubulus salutes thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

⁴ And these things we write to you, that your joy may be full.

¹⁷ because the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and will lead them to the fountains of the waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

⁴ And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, nor shall mourning, nor crying, nor pain be any more; because the former things are passed away.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him: Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

²⁶ For the king knows well concerning these things, to whom also I speak boldly; for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this has not been done in a corner.

²¹ and being fully persuaded, that what he has promised he is able also to perform.

³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present nor things to come,

⁵ One man esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each one be fully persuaded in his own mind.

¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; but to him that accounts anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

¹⁴ And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

⁶ in pureness, in knowledge, in long-suffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love unfeigned,

⁶ If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nurtured in the words of the faith and of the good teaching, which thou hast strictly followed.

¹² For which cause I suffer also these things. But I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him, unto that day.

⁹ But, beloved, we are persuaded of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar, and greeted them, and professed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth.

²² Having purified your souls in obeying the truth unto unfeigned brotherly love, love one another from the heart fervently;

¹⁵ and to one gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and straightway went abroad. ¹⁶ And he that received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained other five talents. ¹⁷ Likewise also he that received the two gained other two. ¹⁸ But he that received the one went away and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. ¹⁹ After a long time the lord of those servants comes, and reckons with them. ²⁰ And he that received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying: Lord, thou deliveredst to me five talents; behold, I gained other five talents beside them. ²¹ His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant; thou wast faithful over a little, I will set thee over much. Enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²² And he also that received the two talents came and said: Lord, thou deliveredst to me two talents; behold, I gained other two talents beside them. ²³ His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant; thou wast faithful over a little, I will set thee over much. Enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²⁴ And he also that received the one talent came and said: Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou strewedst not. ²⁵ And fearing, I went and hid thy talent in the earth. Lo, thou hast thine own. ²⁶ And his lord answering said to him: Wicked and slothful servant! Thou knewest that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I strewed not? ²⁷ Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers; and when I came, I should have received my own with interest. ²⁸ Take therefore the talent from him, and give to him that has the ten talents. ²⁹ For to every one that has shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him that has not, even what he has shall be taken away. ³⁰ And cast forth the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth!

¹³ And having called his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and said to them: Traffic, till I come.

¹⁷ Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸ And Simon, seeing that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, offered them money,

⁶ And Paul having laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.

⁶ And having gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of our faith; ⁷ or ministry, [let us wait] on the ministry; or he that teaches, on the teaching; ⁸ or he that exhorts, on the exhortation; he that gives, [let him do it] with simplicity; he that presides, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

¹⁹ Quench not the Spirit.

¹⁴ Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee through prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

¹⁴ Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the subverting of the hearers.

² preach the word; apply thyself in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.

² of the doctrine of immersions, and of the laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

¹⁰ according as each received a gift, ministering the same to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God; ¹¹ if any one speaks, as [uttering] God's oracles; if any one ministers, as of the ability which God bestows; that God in all things may be glorified, through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the dominion, forever and ever. Amen.

¹² Wherefore, I will not neglect to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth that is with you.

¹ THIS second letter, beloved, I now write to you; in both which I stir up your pure mind by putting you in remembrance;

⁵ But I wish to remind you, as once knowing all, that Jesus, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who believed not.

³⁵ And they went out to see what was done. And they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

¹⁹ Behold, I have given you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you.

¹⁷ And coming to himself, he said: How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger!

⁴⁹ And, behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you. But do ye tarry in the city, until ye are endued with power from on high.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

⁸ But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you; and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the utmost part of the earth.

⁸ And Stephen, full of grace and of power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

²² But Saul was more strengthened, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

³⁸ how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the Devil; because God was with him.

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the good news of the grace of God.

¹³ Then answered Paul: What mean ye, to weep and to break my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.

¹¹ And punishing them often, throughout all the synagogues, I constrained them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them also unto foreign cities.

²⁵ But he said: I am not mad, most noble Festus; but utter words of truth and soberness.

⁵ and hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God has been poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Spirit which was given to us.

¹⁵ For ye did not receive the spirit of bondage, again to fear; but ye received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

⁴ And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of man's wisdom, but with demonstration of the Spirit and of power;

¹³ For whether we were beside ourselves, it was for God; or whether we are of sound mind, it is for you. ¹⁴ For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judged, that if one died for all, then they all died.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,

⁸ who also made known to us your love in the Spirit.

¹⁵ and might deliver those who, through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

¹⁸ There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment; and he that fears is not made perfect in love.

³⁸ For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will also the Son of man be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

²⁶ For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his glory, and in that of the Father and of the holy angels.

²⁷ And ye also shall bear witness, because ye are with me from the beginning.

³⁵ And he that has seen has borne witness, and his witness is true, and he knows that he says what is true, that ye also might believe.

⁴¹ They therefore went rejoicing from the presence of the council, because for that name they were counted worthy to suffer shame.

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

¹⁷ and if children, also heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him. ¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are of no account, in comparison with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

³⁶ As it is written: For, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for slaughter.

³³ as it is written: Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

²⁵ Now to him who is able to establish you, according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept in silence during eternal ages

⁶ according as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you;

⁹ For I think that God set forth us the apostles last, as condemned to death; for we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. ¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honorable, but we are despised. ¹¹ Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place; ¹² and labor, working with our own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it; ¹³ being defamed, we entreat; we have become as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things unto this day.

⁷ in the word of truth, in the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as beside myself,) I am more; in labors more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in prisons more abundantly, in deaths often; ²⁴ of the Jews five times I received forty stripes save one; ²⁵ thrice I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; thrice I suffered shipwreck; a night and a day I have spent in the deep; ²⁶ by journeyings often, by perils of rivers, by perils of robbers, by perils from my countrymen, by perils from the heathen, by perils in the city, by perils in the wilderness, by perils in the sea, by perils among false brethren; ²⁷ by weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

⁹ And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee; for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may abide upon me. ¹⁰ Wherefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then I am powerful.

¹ FOR this cause I, Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,—

¹³ Wherefore I entreat that ye faint not at my afflictions for you, which is your glory.

¹ I, THE prisoner in the Lord, exhort you, therefore, to walk worthy of the calling with which ye were called,

¹⁷ This therefore I say, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

⁷ As it is just for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; being all of you, both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, partakers of the grace with me.

¹⁰ that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death;

¹³ I can do all things, in him who strengthens me.

¹¹ being strengthened with all strength, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joy;

²⁴ Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body, which is the church;

⁴ For even when we were with you, we told you before that we are to suffer affliction; as also it came to pass, and ye know.

⁶ who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time;

¹⁶ The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; because he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain;

³ Endure hardship with me, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

⁹ in which I endure hardship, even unto bonds, as an evil-doer; but the word of God is not bound.

¹¹ Faithful is the saying: For if we died with him, we shall also live with him; ¹² if we endure, we shall also reign with him; if we shall deny him, he also will deny us;

⁵ But be thou watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fully accomplish thy ministry.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the preaching might be fully accomplished, and all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

⁵ who by the power of God are kept through faith, unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

¹³ but, in so far as ye share in Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that also, at the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you; [on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.] ¹⁵ For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a busy-body in other men's matters;

¹⁴ And we have seen, and bear witness, that the Father has sent forth the Son, a Savior of the world.

¹¹ And this is the witness, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has the life; he that has not the Son of God has not the life.

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy;

² who testified of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, of whatever things he saw.

⁹ I, John, your brother, and partner with you in the affliction, and kingdom, and patient endurance in Jesus, was in the island called Patmos, on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

¹¹ And they overcame him, because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life, unto the death.

¹⁰ And I fell before his feet to worship him. And he said to me: See thou do it not. I am a fellow-servant of thee and of thy brethren who have the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus; for he shall save his people from their sins.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said: I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, and reveal them to babes; ²⁶ yea, O Father, that so it seemed good in thy sight!

²¹ In that hour he rejoiced in spirit, and said: I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, and reveal them to babes; yea, O Father, that so it seemed good in thy sight.

³⁷ All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him that comes to me I will not cast out.

²⁸ and I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

⁹ I pray for them; I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me; because they are thine.

²⁴ Father, those whom thou hast given me, I will that where I am they also be with me; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me; because thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

⁴⁷ praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who are saved.

¹⁸ Known to God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

²⁰ Because by works of law no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by law is the knowledge of sin.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ Because whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren. ³⁰ And whom he predestined, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified. ³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who shall be against us? ³² He who spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? ³³ Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's chosen? God is he that justifies; ³⁴ who is he that condemns? Christ is he that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written: For, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for slaughter. ³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present nor things to come, ³⁹ neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹¹ (for they being not yet born, nor having done anything good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls),

²⁴ whom he also called, even us, not from among the Jews only, but also from among the Gentiles?

⁵ Even so then, at this present time also, there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, it is no longer of works; otherwise, grace becomes no longer grace. Ancient copies omit the words in brackets. [But if of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise, work is no longer work.]

¹⁸ For the preaching of the cross is to those who perish, foolishness; but to us who are saved, it is the power of God.

²¹ So then, let no one glory in men. For all things are yours; ²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours;

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; ⁴ as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love;

⁹ making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in himself,

¹¹ in him, in whom we obtained also the inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will,

⁵ even when we were dead in sins, alive with Christ, (by grace ye are saved,)

⁸ For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; ⁹ not of works, lest any one should boast.

¹¹ according to the eternal purpose which he made in Christ Jesus our Lord,

⁷ For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in sanctification.

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth; ¹⁴ whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ PAUL, an apostle of Christ Jesus, according to the commandment of God our Savior and Christ Jesus our hope,

⁴ But when the kindness and the love toward man of our Savior God appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the bathing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit;

¹ WHEREFORE, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Jesus,

¹⁵ but as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves holy in all your deportment; ¹⁶ because it is written: Ye shall be holy, for I am holy.

²⁰ who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times for you,

⁹ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession; that ye should show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;

²⁰ For what glory is it, if when ye are beaten for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? But if when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. ²¹ For to this ye were called; because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps;

⁸ And all who dwell upon the earth will worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb which is slain, from the foundation of the world.

⁸ The beast that thou sawest was, and is not, and is to come up out of the abyss, and to go into perdition; and they will wonder who dwell on the earth, whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, seeing the beast, that he was, and is not, and shall come.

¹¹ For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

³¹ which thou preparedst before the face of all the peoples, ³² a light for a revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

³⁶ If therefore thy whole body is light, having no part dark, it shall be all light as when the lamp, with its bright shining, gives thee light.

⁷ And he said to the vine-dresser: Behold, three years I come seeking fruit on this fig-tree, and find none. Cut it down; why does it also encumber the ground?

⁹ There was the true light, which lights every man that comes into the world.

⁴² and said to the woman: We no longer believe because of thy saying; for we ourselves have heard, and know that this is in truth the Savior of the world.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say to you, he that hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has everlasting life, and comes not into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. ²⁵ Verily, verily, I say to you, an hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself, so he gave also to the Son to have life in himself. ²⁷ And he gave him authority to execute judgment also, because he is a son of man. ²⁸ Marvel not at this; for an hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, ²⁹ and shall come forth; they that did good, to the resurrection of life, and they that did evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

⁴⁰ and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

²⁵ Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believes on me, though he be dead, yet shall he live; ²⁶ and whoever lives and believes on me, shall never die. Believest thou this?

⁶ Jesus says to him: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, but by me.

³¹ But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life in his name.

³¹ Him, as a prince and a Savior, did God exalt to his right hand, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

²³ Of the seed of this man, God, according to promise, raised up to Israel a Savior, Jesus;

⁷ to those who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;

³¹ Do we then make void law through the faith? Far be it! Yea, we establish law.

¹⁷ For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more they who receive the abundance of the grace, and of the gift of righteousness, shall reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.) ¹⁸ So then, as through one trespass it came upon all men unto condemnation; so also through one righteous act it came upon all men unto justification of life.

⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, in order that we should no longer be in bondage to sin.

²⁶ but now made manifest, and through the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, made known to all nations for obedience to the faith,

⁵ So then judge not anything before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each one have his praise of God.

²⁶ As the last enemy, Death shall be done away. For he subjected all things under his feet.

⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. ⁵⁴ And when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then will be brought to pass the saying, that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory. ⁵⁵ Where, O death, is thy sting? Where, O death, is thy victory?

⁴ For we who are in the tabernacle groan, being burdened; in that we do not desire to be unclothed, but to be clothed upon, that what is mortal might be swallowed up by life.

⁴ Ye are separated from Christ, whoever of you are justified in the law; ye are fallen away from grace.

¹⁸ the eyes of your heart being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

²⁶ the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been manifested to his saints; ²⁷ to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory;

⁸ And then will the Lawless One be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of his mouth, and will destroy with the manifestation of his coming;

¹ PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

³ but in its own times manifested his word in the preaching, with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of our Savior God; ⁴ to Titus, a true child according to the common faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

¹¹ For the saving grace of God appeared to all men,

¹³ looking for the blissful hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;

⁴ But when the kindness and the love toward man of our Savior God appeared,

¹⁴ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner took part in the same; that through death he might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the Devil; ¹⁵ and might deliver those who, through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

³² But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were enlightened, ye endured a great contest of sufferings;

²⁰ who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times for you, ²¹ who through him believe on God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope are on God.

¹ SIMON PETER, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

³ Seeing that his divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and might;

¹¹ For so shall be richly ministered to you the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

²⁰ For if, having escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christy but having again become entangled therein they are overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first.

² that ye may be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Savior by your apostles;

¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, both now and forever. Amen.

² (and the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and report to you the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;)

⁷ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him that overcomes, to him I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

¹ AFTER these things I saw another angel coming down out of heaven, having great authority; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

¹⁴ And death and the underworld were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

¹ AND he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. ² In the midst of its street, and on either side of the river, was a tree of life, bearing twelve fruits, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

¹⁴ Happy are they who wash their robes, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say: Come. And let him that hears say: Come. And let him that thirsts, come; let him that will, take the water of life freely.

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him: Go; for he is to me a chosen vessel, to bear my name before Gentiles, and kings, and the sons of Israel;

⁷ whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God, which was given to me according to the working of his power. ⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, was this grace given, to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

⁷ desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

⁷ whereunto I was appointed a preacher, and an apostle (I speak truth, I lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

²² Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in thy name, and in thy name cast out demons, and in thy name do many miracles?

²¹ And in his name will Gentiles hope.

³⁶ But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

¹² I say to you, that it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

⁴⁶ And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said: Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. And having said this, he expired.

³⁹ And this is the will of him who sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. ⁴⁰ For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁴⁴ No one can come to me, except the Father who sent me draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

²⁸ and I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. ³⁰ I and the Father are one.

¹¹ And I am no longer in the world; and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep those in thy name whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are, ¹² While I was with them, I kept them in thy name. Those whom thou hast given me I watched over and none of them perished, except the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁵ I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

⁵⁹ and stoned Stephen, calling and saying: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

¹⁶ for I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly, and said: It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you; but since ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves not worthy of the eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out from their borders.

⁵ And when a movement was made, both of the Gentiles and Jews with their rulers, to abuse and stone them, ⁶ they, being aware of it, fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the region around;

²⁷ And as the seven days were about to be completed, the Jews from Asia, having observed him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him, ²⁸ crying out: Men of Israel, help. This is the man who teaches all, everywhere, against the people, and the law, and this place; and further also, he brought Greeks into the temple, and has polluted this holy place. ²⁹ For they had before seen with him in the city Trophimus the Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul brought into the temple. ³⁰ And all the city was moved, and the people ran together; and laying hold of Paul, they dragged him out of the temple; and forthwith the doors were shut. ³¹ And while they were seeking to kill him, a report came up to the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar;

²¹ And he said to me: Depart; for I will send thee far hence to the Gentiles. ²² And they heard him unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said: Away with such a one from the earth; for it was not fit that he should live. ²³ And as they were crying out, and throwing up their garments, and casting dust into the air, ²⁴ the chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know for what charge they were thus crying out against him.

⁴ and patience approval; and approval hope; ⁵ and hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God has been poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Spirit which was given to us.

¹² And again, Isaiah says: There shall be the root of Jesse, And he who rises up to rule the Gentiles; On him will Gentiles hope. ¹³ And the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹³ the work of each one will be made manifest; for the day will show it, because it is revealed in fire, and the fire itself will prove of what sort is each one's work.

¹² that we should be to the praise of his glory who before have hoped in the Christ; ¹³ in whom ye also, after having heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, in whom [I say] having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise;

¹ FOR this cause I, Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,— ² if indeed ye heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given me toward you, ³ that by revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I wrote before in few words; ⁴ whereby, when ye read, ye can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ, ⁵ which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; ⁶ that the Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers with us of the promise, in Christ Jesus, through the gospel;

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall in nothing be put to shame, but that with all boldness, as always, so also now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

⁸ Nay more, and I account all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord; for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and account them refuse, that I may gain Christ,

²¹ who will transform the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working with which he is able also to subject all things to himself.

¹⁶ hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always; and the wrath came upon them to the utmost.

⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief.

²⁰ O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding the profane babblings, and oppositions of that which is falsely called knowledge;

⁸ Be not then ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship with me for the gospel, according to the power of God;

¹⁸ The Lord grant to him, that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day! And in how many things he ministered to me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

¹⁰ But thou didst strictly follow my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, patience, ¹¹ persecutions, afflictions; what things came upon me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of all the Lord delivered me. ¹² Yea, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

⁸ henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.

¹⁶ At my first answer no one came forward with me, but all forsook me. May it not be laid to their charge! ¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the preaching might be fully accomplished, and all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹⁸ For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

²⁵ Whence also he is able to save to the utmost those who come to God through him, since he ever lives to intercede for them.

² looking away to the author and finisher of the faith, Jesus; who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁶ but if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this name.

¹⁹ Wherefore let those also, who suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as to a faithful Creator.

²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law;

¹⁷ But thanks be to God, that ye were servants of sin, but obeyed from the heart that form of teaching which was delivered to you;

²⁷ Only let your deportment be as becomes the gospel of Christ; that whether I come and see you, or remain absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

⁹ The things also, which ye learned, and received, and heard, and saw in me, these do; and the God of peace will be with you.

⁴ having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have toward all the saints,

²¹ but prove all things, hold fast that which is good.

¹⁰ for fornicators, for those who defile themselves with mankind, for enslavers of men, for liars, for false swearers, and whatever else is contrary to the sound teachings;

¹⁴ and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly, with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

³ If any one teaches otherwise, and assents not to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching which is according to godliness,

¹⁴ The good thing committed to thee keep, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

² And the things that thou heardest from me by many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

¹⁴ But do thou continue in the things which thou learnedst and wast assured of, knowing of whom thou didst learn;

⁹ holding fast the faithful word according to the teaching, that he may be able with the sound teaching both to exhort, and to refute the gainsayers.

¹ BUT do thou speak the things which become the sound teaching;

⁸ sound speech, that can not be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be put to shame, having no evil thing to say of us.

⁶ but Christ as son over His house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the boldness and the joyousness of the hope firm unto the end.

¹⁴ Having therefore a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

²³ let us hold fast the profession of the hope without wavering, for he is faithful who promised;

³ Beloved, while giving all diligence to write to you concerning the common salvation, I found it needful for me to write to you exhorting to contend earnestly for the faith, delivered once for all to the saints.

²⁵ but that which ye have, hold fast till I come.

³ Remember therefore how thou hast received, and didst hear, and keep, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come upon thee.

¹¹ I come quickly; hold fast that which thou hast, that no one may take thy crown.

¹¹ If therefore ye were not faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust to you the true riches?

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world can not receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him; but ye know him, because he abides with you, and shall be in you.

² Much every way; first, indeed, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God.

⁹ But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. And if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

¹¹ And if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ from the dead will also quicken your mortal bodies, because of his Spirit that dwells in you.

¹³ For if ye live according to the flesh, ye shall die; but if by the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

¹⁶ Know ye not that ye are God's temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

¹⁹ Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom ye have from God, and ye are not your own?

¹⁷ For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if unwillingly, I have a stewardship intrusted to me.

¹⁶ So that we henceforth know no one according to the flesh; and if also we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we no longer know him.

¹⁹ as that God was in Christ reconciling a world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. ²⁰ We are then ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were beseeching by us; on behalf of Christ we pray: Be reconciled to God!

⁷ But, on the contrary, seeing that I have been entrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision, as Peter was with that of the circumcision;

²² in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit;

¹¹ and Jesus, who is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellow-workers, for the kingdom of God, who have been a comfort to me.

¹¹ according to the glorious gospel of the blissful God, with which I was entrusted.

⁶ And having gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, and being forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia,

¹⁰ And this continued for two years; so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

²⁷ And there is danger to us, not only that this branch of business will come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana will be accounted nothing, and her magnificence will be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worship.

³¹ And some also of the chiefs of Asia, being his friends, sent to him, entreating him not to adventure himself into the theatre.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

¹⁹ The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.

²¹ For all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ For Demas forsook me, having loved the present world, and departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. ¹¹ Luke alone is with me. Take Mark and bring him with thee; for he is useful to me for the ministry.

¹⁶ At my first answer no one came forward with me, but all forsook me. May it not be laid to their charge!

⁷ Happy the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.

⁴¹ He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And whoever shall give to drink a cup of cold water only to one of these little ones, in the name of a disciple, verily I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.

³⁵ For I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger and ye took me in, ³⁶ naked and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me. ³⁷ Then will the righteous answer him, saying: Lord, when saw we thee hungering and fed thee, or thirsting and gave thee drink? ³⁸ And when saw we thee a stranger and took thee in, or naked and clothed thee? ³⁹ And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came to thee? ⁴⁰ And the King will answer and say to them: Verily I say to you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye did it to me.

²⁰ For this cause therefore I called for you, to see and to speak with you; for on account of the hope of Israel I am compassed with this chain.

¹⁸ For they refreshed my spirit and yours; therefore acknowledge those who are such.

¹² Because the ministration of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints, but also abounds through many thanksgivings to God; ¹³ while by the proof of this ministration they glorify God for the obedience to your profession of the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of the contribution to them, and to all; ¹⁴ they also, with supplication for you, longing after you on account of the exceeding grace of God in you.

²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in bonds; that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

¹⁹ Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.

⁷ For I had much joy and consolation in thy love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by thee, brother.

²⁰ Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord. Refresh my heart in Christ.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered and still do minister to the saints.

³⁴ For ye sympathized with those in bonds, and ye took joyfully the plundering of your goods, knowing that ye have for yourselves a better and an enduring substance.

³⁰ And Paul remained two whole years in his own hired house, and gladly received all that came in to him; ³¹ preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no one hindering him.

³⁴ Then will the King say to those on his right hand: Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

⁷² to show mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

⁷⁸ through the tender mercies of our God, whereby the dayspring from on high visited us,

³ and Joanna wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to them of their substance.

¹ AND it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper districts came to Ephesus. And finding certain disciples,

²³ for all sinned, and come short of the glory of God;) ²⁴ being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus;

¹⁵ For he says to Moses: I will have mercy on whomsoever I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomsoever I have compassion. ¹⁶ So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy, ¹⁷ For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: Even for this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show forth my power in thee, and that my name might be declared in all the earth. ¹⁸ So that, on whom he will he has mercy, and whom he will he hardens. ¹⁹ Thou wilt say then to me: Why then does he yet find fault? For who resists his will? ²⁰ Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him who formed it: Why didst thou make me thus? ²¹ Has not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor? ²² And what if God, willing to show forth his wrath, and to make known his power, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fitted for destruction; ²³ and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory;

⁸ But I shall remain at Ephesus until the Pentecost.

¹ FOR concerning the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you.

⁴ but God, being rich in mercy, on account of his great love wherewith he loved us, made us,

¹⁹ For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of glorying? Are not also ye, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

³ As I besought thee to remain still in Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain ones not to teach other doctrine,

¹² But Tychicus I sent to Ephesus.

¹⁰ Concerning which salvation the prophets diligently sought and searched, who prophesied of the grace toward you;

¹ TO the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These things says he who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lamp-stands.
