⁵ and spared not the old world, but kept Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing the flood on the world of ungodly men,

³⁷ But as the days of Noah, so shall be also the coming of the Son of man. ³⁸ For as they were in the days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, ³⁹ and knew not until the flood came, and took all away; so shall be also the coming of the Son of man.

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all.

⁷ By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his house; by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

¹⁹ in which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ who were disobedient in times past, when the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water;

⁶ whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished;

¹⁴ Yea, and of these Enoch the seventh from Adam prophesied, saying: Behold, the Lord came, with his holy myriads. ¹⁵ to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly among them of all their acts of ungodliness which they committed, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners spoke against him.
