akin to basanizo (See TOIL, No. 2), is used of Divine judgments in Revelation 9:5; Revelation 14:11; Revelation 18:7, Revelation 18:10, Revelation 18:15.

(a) of physical diseases, Matthew 4:24;
(b) of a condition of retribution in Hades Luke 16:23, Luke 16:28.
