Guide (Noun and Verb)
[ A-1,Noun,G3595, hodegos ]a leader on the way" (hodos, "a way," hegeomai, "to lead"), "a guide," is used
(a) literally, in Acts 1:16;
(b) figuratively, Matthew 15:14, RV, "guides" (AV, "leaders"); Matthew 23:16, Matthew 23:24, "guides;" Romans 2:19, "a guide." Cp. B, No. 1.

"to lead the way" (akin to A), is used
(a) literally, RV, "guide" (AV, "lead"), of "guiding" the blind, in Matthew 15:14; Luke 6:39; of "guiding" unto fountains of waters of life, Revelation 7:17;
(b) figuratively, in John 16:13, of "guidance" into the truth by the Holy Spirit; in Acts 8:31, of the interpretation of Scripture. See LEAD.

"to make straight," is said of "guiding" the feet into the way of peace, Luke 1:79. See DIRECT.
Notes:
(1) in 1 Timothy 5:14, the RV rightly translates the verb oikodespoteo by "rule the household" (AV, "guide the house"), the meaning being that of the management and direction of household affairs. See RULE.
(2) Hegeomai, "to lead," in Hebrews 13:7, Hebrews 13:24, is rendered "that had the rule over" and "that have, etc.," more lit., "them that were (are) your leaders," or "guides."
