Bible verses about "temperance" | YLT

Proverbs 23:1-3

1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, Thou considerest diligently that which is before thee, 2 And thou hast put a knife to thy throat, If thou art a man of appetite. 3 Have no desire to his dainties, seeing it is lying food.

1 Corinthians 9:25

25 and every one who is striving, is in all things temperate; these, indeed, then, that a corruptible crown they may receive, but we an incorruptible;

Galatians 5:16

16 And I say: In the Spirit walk ye, and the desire of the flesh ye may not complete;

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

16 have ye not known that ye are a sanctuary of God, and the Spirit of God doth dwell in you? 17 if any one the sanctuary of God doth waste, him shall God waste; for the sanctuary of God is holy, the which ye are.

Romans 5:3-6

3 And not only so, but we also boast in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation doth work endurance; 4 and the endurance, experience; and the experience, hope; 5 and the hope doth not make ashamed, because the love of God hath been poured forth in our hearts through the Holy Spirit that hath been given to us.
6 For in our being still ailing, Christ in due time did die for the impious;

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 have ye not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, the reign of God shall inherit. 11 And certain of you were these! but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

1 John 4:1-21

1 Beloved, every spirit believe not, but prove the spirits, if of God they are, because many false prophets have gone forth to the world; 2 in this know ye the Spirit of God; every spirit that doth confess Jesus Christ in the flesh having come, of God it is, 3 and every spirit that doth not confess Jesus Christ in the flesh having come, of God it is not; and this is that of the antichrist, which ye heard that it doth come, and now in the world it is already.
4 Ye—of God ye are, little children, and ye have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world. 5 They—of the world they are; because of this from the world they speak, and the world doth hear them; 6 we—of God we are; he who is knowing God doth hear us; he who is not of God, doth not hear us; from this we know the spirit of the truth, and the spirit of the error.
7 Beloved, may we love one another, because the love is of God, and every one who is loving, of God he hath been begotten, and doth know God; 8 he who is not loving did not know God, because God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God in us, because His Son—the only begotten—hath God sent to the world, that we may live through him; 10 in this is the love, not that we loved God, but that He did love us, and did send His Son a propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if thus did God love us, we also ought one another to love; 12 God no one hath ever seen; if we may love one another, God in us doth remain, and His love is having been perfected in us; 13 in this we know that in Him we do remain, and He in us, because of His Spirit He hath given us.
14 And we—we have seen and do testify, that the Father hath sent the Son—Saviour of the world; 15 whoever may confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God in him doth remain, and he in God; 16 and we—we have known and believed the love, that God hath in us; God is love, and he who is remaining in the love, in God he doth remain, and God in him.
17 In this made perfect hath been the love with us, that boldness we may have in the day of the judgment, because even as He is, we—we also are in this world; 18 fear is not in the love, but the perfect love doth cast out the fear, because the fear hath punishment, and he who is fearing hath not been made perfect in the love; 19 we—we love him, because He—He first loved us; 20 if any one may say—`I love God,' and his brother he may hate, a liar he is; for he who is not loving his brother whom he hath seen, God—whom he hath not seen—how is he able to love? 21 and this is the command we have from Him, that he who is loving God, may also love his brother.

Philippians 4:13

13 For all things I have strength, in Christ's strengthening me;

Romans 12:1-2

1 I call upon you, therefore, brethren, through the compassions of God, to present your bodies a sacrifice—living, sanctified, acceptable to God—your intelligent service; 2 and be not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, for your proving what is the will of God—the good, and acceptable, and perfect.

Romans 13:14

14 but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the flesh take no forethought—for desires.

1 Peter 5:8

8 Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, doth walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up,

Proverbs 25:16

16 Honey thou hast found—eat thy sufficiency, Lest thou be satiated with it, and hast vomited it.

Galatians 5:22-25

22 And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law; 24 and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires; 25 if we may live in the Spirit, in the Spirit also we may walk;

2 Peter 1:6

6 and in the knowledge the temperance, and in the temperance the endurance, and in the endurance the piety,

1 Corinthians 9:27

27 but I chastise my body, and bring it into servitude, lest by any means, having preached to others—I myself may become disapproved.
