³⁶ For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? ³⁷ or what shall a man give as a ransom for his soul?

¹⁵ If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father,

³⁸ And as they were journeying, He entered into a certain village; and a woman named Martha received Him into her house. ³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the feet of Jesus, attending to his discourse. ⁴⁰ But Martha, being perplexed about much serving, came to Him and said, Lord, dost thou not regard it, that my sister has left me to serve alone? speak to her therefore that she may help me. ⁴¹ And Jesus said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and in a hurry about many things: but one thing is necessary. ⁴² And Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

²² And He said to his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; nor for the body, what ye shall put on: ²³ the life is more than food, and the body than raiment. ²⁴ Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap; they have neither store-house nor barn, and yet God feedeth them: how much more worth are ye than the fowls? ²⁵ And which of you by all his thought can add one moment to his life? ²⁶ If then ye cannot do even the lest, why are ye so anxious about the rest? ²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: and yet I tell you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ²⁸ Now if God so clothe the grass which is to day in the field, and to-morrow is cast into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O ye of little faith? ²⁹ And seek ye not what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; neither be ye in careful suspense: ³⁰ for all these things the nations of the world seek after; but your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. ³¹ Seek ye therefore the kingdom of God, and all these shall be super-added unto you. ³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's pleasure to give you the kingdom. ³³ Sell what ye have, and give alms: provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a never-failing treasure in the heavens, where no thief approacheth nor moth corrupteth: ³⁴ for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

⁵ (for if any one know not how to govern his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

³⁴ for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may experience what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these shall be superadded unto you.
