²⁶ And the king was exceedingly grieved, but on account of his oath, and those who were at table with him, he would not refuse her: but immediately sent one of his guard,

³⁸ Pilate saith unto Him, What is truth? And as soon as he had spoke, he went out again to the Jews,

²² These things said his parents, because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed, that if any one confessed Him to be Christ, he should be turned out of the synagogue.

²⁴ for through you the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.

²¹ So they threatened them more severely, and let them go; not finding how to punish them, because of the people: for they all glorified God for that which was done.

¹⁹ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

¹ Judge not, that ye be not judged: ² for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured back again to you.

⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

¹⁰ But why dost thou censure thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? since we shall all stand before the tribunal of Christ; ¹¹ for it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So that every one of us shall give an account of himself to God. ¹³ Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, not to lay a stumbling-block or scandal before a brother.

¹⁰ For do I now persuade you to obey men or God? Or do I seek to please men? if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

¹ Receive him that is weak in the faith, but not to disputes about doubtful matters:
