²² Flee youthful passions: and follow righteousness, fidelity, love, and peace, with all those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart: ²³ but foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they produce quarrels; for the servant of the Lord ought not to wrangle, ²⁴ but to be gentle towards all men, ready to teach, patient under injuries, ²⁵ with meekness instructing those of different sentiments, not knowing but God may give them repentance to the acknowledgement of the truth; ²⁶ and they may awake out of the snare of the devil, who have been captivated by him to his will.

¹¹ and endeavour to be quiet, and mind your own affairs, and work with your own hands, ¹² as we gave you in charge, that ye may walk decently toward those that are without, and may have need of no one's assistance.

¹⁶ But in what we have attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

¹ Admonish them to be submissive to governors and magistrates, to obey their orders, and to be ready to every good work; ² to slander no man, to avoid contention, to be gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. ³ For we also were formerly foolish, disobedient, going astray, enslaved to various disorderly appetites and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

¹⁶ I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye will not fulfil the desire of the flesh: ¹⁷ for the flesh desireth things contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit things contrary to the flesh: and these are opposite to each other; so that ye do not those things which ye would.

¹⁵ But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not destroyed by one another.
