¹¹ not that which goeth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this polluteth the man.

²⁴ If a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand:

¹ Receive him that is weak in the faith, but not to disputes about doubtful matters: ² for one believeth that he may eat any food; another, who is weak, liveth upon herbs. ³ Let not him, that eateth, despise him that eateth not; and let not him, that eateth not, censure him that eateth: for God hath received him. ⁴ Who art thou that judgest the servant of another? To his own master he standeth or falleth: yea, he shall be established; for God is able to establish him. ⁵ One preferreth some days to others; another esteemeth every day alike. Let every one be fully satisfied in his own mind. ⁶ He that regardeth a day regardeth it to the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, in deference to the Lord he doth not regard it. So he, that eateth all sorts of food, eateth to the Lord; for he giveth God thanks for it; and he that eateth not of some kinds of food, in deference to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks for the rest. ⁷ For none of us liveth to himself, and no one dieth to himself: ⁸ but if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and lives again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. ¹⁰ But why dost thou censure thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? since we shall all stand before the tribunal of Christ; ¹¹ for it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So that every one of us shall give an account of himself to God. ¹³ Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, not to lay a stumbling-block or scandal before a brother. ¹⁴ I know and have been taught by the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: only to him that thinketh any thing unclean, to him it is unclean. ¹⁵ But if thy brother be grieved by thy food, thou dost not herein walk in love. Do not by thy food destroy him, for whom Christ died. ¹⁶ Let not your liberty then be evil-spoken of: for the kingdom of God consists not in meat and drink; ¹⁷ but in righteousness and peace, and joy in the holy Ghost: for he, ¹⁸ that in these serveth Christ, is acceptable to God, and approved by men. ¹⁹ Let us then pursue peace, and mutual edification. ²⁰ Do not for the sake of meat destroy thy brother who is the work of God: all things indeed are pure; but to the man that eateth with offence it is evil. ²¹ It is good not to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor to do any thing at which thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or weakened. ²² Thou who hast faith, have it to thyself before God: and happy is he that condemneth not himself in what he alloweth himself to do. ²³ But he that hath any scruple, is condemned if he eat; because he doth it not with faith: and whatsoever is not of faith, is sin.

⁷ For as the earth, which imbibeth the rain that is frequently coming upon it, and produceth herbs fit for those by whom it is cultivated, receiveth a blessing from God:

¹ Now the Spirit expressly saith, that in latter times some shall apostatize from the faith, attending to seducing spirits, ² and doctrines of demons founded in the hypocrisy of liars, who are seared in their own conscience, forbidding to marry, ³ and enjoining abstinence from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving by those that believe and know the truth. ⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving: ⁵ for it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer. ⁶ If thou lay these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, as one brought up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, to which thou hast attained.

¹ And he shewed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God, and of the Lamb. ² And in the midst of the street, and of the river, which ran on each side, was the tree of life, producing fruits twelve times in the year, yielding its different fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

¹⁹ What! know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have from God? ²⁰ and ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price. Glorify God therefore in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

¹³ Let us behave decently as being in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lasciviousness, not in strife and envying. ¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.

¹ But do thou speak the things which become sound doctrine: ² that aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in the faith, in love, in patience: ³ the aged women likewise in behaviour as becometh saints, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of that which is good; ⁴ that they may instruct the young women to be temperate, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be prudent, ⁵ chaste, keepers at home, good, submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of. ⁶ Exhort the young men in like manner to be temperate: ⁷ in all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works, with uncorruptness in teaching, gravity, sound doctrine that cannot be condemned; ⁸ that he who opposeth it may be ashamed, having no evil to say of you.

¹ Seeing therefore Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same thought, that he, who hath mortified the flesh, hath ceased from sin; ² that he should no longer live the rest of his time in the flesh according to the lusts of men, but after the will of God. ³ For the time past of our life is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, inordinate desires, excess of wine, revellings, drunkenness, and abominable idolatries: ⁴ in which they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, and therefore speak evil of you: ⁵ who shall give an account to Him, who is ready to judge the living and the dead. ⁶ For to this end was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but might live according to God in the spirit.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; for your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which there is riotous excess; but be filled with the Spirit:
