¹² "All things, therefore, whatsoever ye wish that men should do to you, so do ye also to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

²⁵ And whensoever ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any; that your Father also Who is in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses."

¹ "Judge not, that ye be not judged; ² for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you. ³ "And why do you behold the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam in your own eye? ⁴ Or how will you say to your brother, 'Permit me to cast out the mote out of your eye;' and, behold, the beam is in your own eye? ⁵ Hypocrite! Cast out first the beam out of your own eye; and then you will see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother's eye.

⁸ "Or what woman, having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, does not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently, till she finds it?

³² "And, if ye love those who love you, what charm have you? for even the sinners love those who love them. ³³ "And, if ye do good to those who do good to you, what charm have you? even the sinners do the same. ³⁴ "And, if ye lend to those from whom ye hope to receive, what charm have you? even the sinners lend to sinners, that they may receive back as much. ³⁵ "But love your enemies; and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and ye will be sons of the Most High; because He is kind to the unthankful and evil. ³⁶ "Be ye merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ³⁷ "And judge not, and ye shall not be judged; and condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned. "Release, and ye shall be released. ³⁸ "Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will they give into your bosom; for with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." ³⁹ And He spake also a parable to them: "Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? ⁴⁰ A disciple is not above the teacher; but every one, when perfected, shall be as his teacher. ⁴¹ "And why do you behold the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? ⁴² Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, suffer me to cast out the mote that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the beam in your own eye? Hypocrite! cast first the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to cast out the mote that is in your brother's eye.

⁵ Let your disposition be without fondness for money; content with the present things; for He Himself hath said, "I will in nowise leave you, neither will I in any wise forsake you."

⁷ Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man sows, the same shall be also reap; ⁸ because he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life eternal.

¹⁹ Ye know this, my beloved brethren; but let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; ²⁰ for man's wrath works not God's righteousness.

¹⁴ What profit is it, my brethren, if anyone says he has faith, but has not works; can such faith save him? ¹⁵ If a brother or a sister be naked, and in want of daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you say to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," but ye give them not the things needful for the body, what does it profit? ¹⁷ Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself. ¹⁸ But some one will say, "You have faith, and I have works": show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. ¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder! ²⁰ But are you willing to know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is worthless? ²¹ Was not Abraham, our father, justified by works, when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²² You see that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith perfected; ²³ and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness"; and he was called "God's Friend." ²⁴ Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

¹⁸ Pray for us; for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring to deport ourselves honestly in all things.

³⁵ In all things I showed you that, thus laboring, ye ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

³¹ "And as ye wish that men should do to you, do ye also to them in like manner.

²² And become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding yourselves. ²³ Because, if anyone is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a mirror; ²⁴ for he observed himself, and went away, and straightway he forgot what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But he who looks carefully into a perfect law—that of liberty—and remains by it, becoming not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work—this man shall be happy in his doing. ²⁶ If anyone thinks that he is religious, while he bridles not his own tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain. ²⁷ A religion, pure and undefiled with our God and Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

²⁴ "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.
