² And the Pharisees, corning to Him, were asking Him, "Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife!" tempting Him. ³ And He, answering, said to them, "What did Moses command you?" ⁴ And they said, "Moses permitted to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away." ⁵ But Jesus said to them, "Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this commandment. ⁶ But from the beginning of the creation, 'Male and female made He them.' ⁷ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, [and shall cleave to his wife], ⁸ and the two shall become one flesh; so that they are no more two, but one flesh. ⁹ What, therefore, God joined together, let not man put asunder." ¹⁰ And in the house the disciples asked Him again concerning this.

¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue, but in deed and in truth.

¹⁶ Confess, therefore, your sins one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. A righteous man's inwrought supplication avails much.

¹ In like manner, ye wives, be subject to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they may, without the word, be gained through the conduct of their wives,

¹³ A temptation has not taken you, except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able, but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the assembly, and delivered Himself up for it,

⁴ Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
