⁹ that if you shall confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;

¹³ But some also of the wandering Jews, exorcists, attempted to name over those having evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by the Jesus Whom Paul preaches." ¹⁴ Now there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish high priest, who did this. ¹⁵ And the evil spirit, answering, said to them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I understand; but who are ye?" ¹⁶ And the man in whom was the evil spirit, leaping upon them, and, overcoming them both, prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ And this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who were dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified. ¹⁸ Many also of those who had believed were coming, confessing, and declaring their practices. ¹⁹ A considerable number, moreover, of those who had practiced the curious arts, having brought together the books, were burning them in the presence of all; and they counted the prices of them, and found them fifty thousand pieces of silver. ²⁰ So mightily grew the word of God, and prevailed.

¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world is lying in the evil one.

¹⁴ Become not unequally yoked with unbelievers; for what fellowship have righteousness and lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what concord of Christ is there with Belial? or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ And what agreement has a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God, as God said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Wherefore, "Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate," saith the Lord, "and touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you; ¹⁸ and I will be to you a Father, and ye shall be My sons and daughters." saith the Lord Almighty.

¹ Having, therefore, these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words; for, because of these things, comes the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience. ⁷ Do not, therefore, become partakers with them; ⁸ for ye were once darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord; walk as children of light ⁹ (for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth), ¹⁰ proving what is well-pleasing to the Lord; ¹¹ and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them; ¹² for it is a shame even to speak of the things done by them in secret.

⁸ Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, is going about, seeking whom he may devour;

²¹ Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; ye cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

²⁷ neither give place to the Devil.
