⁴¹ So they accepted his message and were baptized, and about three thousand persons united with them on that day.

²⁷ For you will not forsake my soul to Hades. Nor will you let your Holy One experience decay.

⁵¹ Let me tell you a secret. We shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed, ⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised with bodies not subject to decay, and we shall be changed. ⁵³ For this decaying part of us must put on the body that can never decay, and this part once capable of dying must put on the body that can never die. ⁵⁴ And when this part once capable of dying puts on the body that can never die, then what the Scripture says will come true, "Death has been swallowed up in victory. ⁵⁵ O Death, where is your victory now? O Death, where is your sting?"

²⁶ For what benefit will it be to a man, if he gains the whole world and loses his higher life? What price would a man pay to buy back his life?

²⁸ You must never be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. But rather you must keep on fearing Him who can destroy both soul and body in the pit.
