³ "Blessed are those who feel poor in spiritual things, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. ⁴ "Blessed are the mourners, for they will be comforted.

¹⁶ So practice confessing your sins to one another, and praying for one another, that you may be cured. An upright man's prayer, when it keeps at work, is very powerful.

⁸ For I do not want you to be uninformed about the sorrow that I suffered in Asia, because I was so crushed beyond any power to endure that I was in dire despair of life itself. ⁹ Yes, I felt within my very self the sentence of death, to keep me from depending on myself instead of God who raises the dead. ¹⁰ He saved me from a death so horrible, and He will save me again! He it is on whom I have set my hope that He will still save me,

⁶ But He gives a greater spiritual blessing. He says, "God opposes haughty people but blesses humble people."

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ, and I myself no longer live, but Christ is living in me; the life I now live as a mortal man I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.

²⁴ I most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains a single grain. But if it does die, it yields a great harvest.
