⁴¹ "Then He will say to those at His left, 'Be gone from me, you who are now cursed, to the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

⁹ When He broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered for being faithful to God's message and for the testimony they bore to it. ¹⁰ Then in a loud voice they cried out, "Holy and true Master, how long will you refrain from charging and avenging our blood upon the inhabitants of the earth?" ¹¹ Then a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to keep quiet a little while longer, until the number of their fellow-slaves and brothers, who were killed as they had been, was complete.

⁶ Blessed and holy is the man who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death will have no power, but they will be priests of God and Christ, and reign with Him the thousand years.

¹ A revelation given by Jesus Christ which God gave to Him, to make known to His slaves what must very soon take place. Amen. ⁸ "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, who is and was and is to come, the Almighty. ⁹ I, John, your brother and companion with you in the trouble, the kingdom, and the patient endurance which Jesus gives, found myself on the island called Patmos, for preaching God's message and testifying to Jesus. ¹⁰ On the Lord's day I was in the Spirit's power, and I heard a voice like a trumpet behind me say: ¹¹ "Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea." ¹² I turned to see who it was that was speaking to me, and as I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, ¹³ and among the lampstands One resembling the Son of Man, wearing a robe that reached to His feet, and with a belt of gold around His breast. ¹⁴ His head and hair were as white as white wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like coals of fire; ¹⁵ His feet were like bronze refined to white heat in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. ¹⁶ In His right hand He was holding seven stars, and a sharp, double-edged sword was coming out of His mouth, and His face was shining like the sun at midday. ¹⁷ So when I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He laid His right hand upon me and said: "Do not be afraid any more. I am the First and the Last; ¹⁸ yea, the ever-living One. I once was dead, but now I live forever and ever. I carry the keys of death and the underworld. ¹⁹ So write what you have seen, what is and what is to take place hereafter. ²⁰ The open secret of the seven stars that you have seen in my right hand, and of the seven golden lampstands, is this: The seven stars are the messengers of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

¹⁹ "Once there was a rich man who used to dress in purple and fine linen and live in dazzling luxury every day. ²⁰ And a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores, had been laid at his gate, ²¹ and he was always craving to get a square meal from the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. Yes, the very dogs used to come and lick his sores. ²² One day the beggar died and was carried away by the angels to be Abraham's bosom companion, and the rich man too died and was buried. ²³ And in Hades he looked up, in constant tortures as he was, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus his bosom companion. ²⁴ So he called and said, 'Father Abraham, take pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool off my tongue, because I am ceaselessly tortured in this flame.' ²⁵ But Abraham said, 'My child, remember that you received in full your blessings in your lifetime, and Lazarus his hardships in his, but now he is continuously comforted here, while you are continuously tortured there. ²⁶ Besides all this, between you and us there stands fixed a great chasm, so that those who want to cross from this side to you cannot, nor can they cross from your side to us.' ²⁷ Then he said, 'For this reason, I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house ²⁸ (for I have five brothers) to warn them, that they too may not come to this place of torture.' ²⁹ But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them listen to them.' ³⁰ But he pleaded, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone went to them from the dead, they would repent.' ³¹ Then he answered, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced, even if someone rises from the dead.'"

²⁸ You must never be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. But rather you must keep on fearing Him who can destroy both soul and body in the pit.

² In my Father's house there are many dwelling places; if there were not, I would have told you, for I am going away to make ready a place for you.

⁴³ So He said to him, "I solemnly say to you, this very day you will be in paradise with me."

⁸ But the cowards, the unfaithful, the polluted, the murderers, the sexually immoral, the practicers of magic, the worshipers of idols, and all liars will have their portion in the lake that keeps on burning with fire and brimstone. This is the second death."

⁴⁶ Then these will go away to everlasting punishment, but the upright to everlasting life."

¹⁶ "For God loved the world so much that He gave His Only Son, so that anyone who trusts in Him may never perish but have eternal life.
