Bible verses about "vocation" | Whiston

John 15:16

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and appointed you, that you should go and bring forth much fruit, and your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Matthew 28:16-20

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, unto a mountain whereJesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came, and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go ye now and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them unto the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the age.

Mark 1:17-20

17 And Jesus said unto them, Come after me, and I will make you become fishers of men. 18 And straightway they forsook all, and followed him. 19 And when he had gone a little further, he saw James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. 20 And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship, with the hired servants, and followed him.

1 Corinthians 7:17-24

17 As the Lord hath distributed to every man, as God hath called every one, so let him walk: and so teach I in all churches. 18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised: is any called in uncircumcision? let him not become circumcised. 19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. 20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. 21 Art thou called a servant? care not for it; but if thou mayst be made free, use [it] rather. 22 For he that is called in the Lord, a servant, is the Lord's free-man: likewise also he that is called free, is Christ's servant. 23 Are ye bought with a price? be not ye the servants of men. 24 Brethren, let every man wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

Ephesians 4:1-12

1 I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace. 4 One body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and though all, and in you all. 7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led a captivity captive, [and] gave gifts unto men. 9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended, is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. 11 And he hath given some, apostles: and some, prophets: and some, evangelists: and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Ephesians 4:1-13

1 I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace. 4 One body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and though all, and in you all. 7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led a captivity captive, [and] gave gifts unto men. 9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended, is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. 11 And he hath given some, apostles: and some, prophets: and some, evangelists: and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ;

Romans 12:4-8

4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts, differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, according to the analogy of the faith. 7 Or ministry, on ministring; or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 He that exhorteth on exhortation: he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

Ephesians 4:1

1 I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
