¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and appointed you, that you should go and bring forth much fruit, and your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

¹⁶ Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, unto a mountain whereJesus had appointed them. ¹⁷ And when they saw him, they worshipped: but some doubted. ¹⁸ And Jesus came, and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth. ¹⁹ Go ye now and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them unto the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: ²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the age.

¹⁷ And Jesus said unto them, Come after me, and I will make you become fishers of men. ¹⁸ And straightway they forsook all, and followed him. ¹⁹ And when he had gone a little further, he saw James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. ²⁰ And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship, with the hired servants, and followed him.

¹⁷ As the Lord hath distributed to every man, as God hath called every one, so let him walk: and so teach I in all churches. ¹⁸ Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised: is any called in uncircumcision? let him not become circumcised. ¹⁹ Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. ²⁰ Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. ²¹ Art thou called a servant? care not for it; but if thou mayst be made free, use [it] rather. ²² For he that is called in the Lord, a servant, is the Lord's free-man: likewise also he that is called free, is Christ's servant. ²³ Are ye bought with a price? be not ye the servants of men. ²⁴ Brethren, let every man wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

¹ I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, ² With all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; ³ Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace. ⁴ One body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; ⁵ One Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and though all, and in you all. ⁷ But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. ⁸ Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led a captivity captive, [and] gave gifts unto men. ⁹ Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended, is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. ¹¹ And he hath given some, apostles: and some, prophets: and some, evangelists: and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

¹⁴ For the called are many, but the chosen are few.

¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me; I am sent to preach the gospel to the poor, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

⁴ For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: ⁵ So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. ⁶ Having then gifts, differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, according to the analogy of the faith. ⁷ Or ministry, on ministring; or he that teacheth, on teaching; ⁸ He that exhorteth on exhortation: he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
