Bible verses about "talent" | Whiston

Matthew 6:1-34

1 Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father in the heavens. 2 Therefore, when thou shalt do alms, thou shalt not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be glorified of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. 3 But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy father who seeth in scret, himself shall reward thee. 5 And when thou shalt pray, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand, and to pray in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou shalt pray, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret, shall reward thee. 7 But when ye pray, ye shall not use vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye open your mouth. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye; Our Father who art in the heavens, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done as in heaven, so on earth. 11 Give us this day the bread necessary for our sustenance. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debters. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. 14 For, if ye shall forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if ye shall not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. 16 Moreover, when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face. 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, shall reward thee. 19 You shall not lay up for your selves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon: 25 Therefore I say unto you, Be not sollicitous for your life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on: Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of heaven: for they sow not, nether do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by being sollicitous can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why are ye sollicitous for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither dothey spin. 29 And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory, was not arayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore if God so clothe the grass of the field which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more do so to you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore ye shall not be sollicitous, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 For, after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Ye shall not therefore be sollicitous for the morrow: for the morrow will be sollicitous about things for it self: sufficient for the day [is] the evil thereof.

1 Corinthians 16:14

14 Let all your things be done with charity.

Matthew 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do they light a candle, and put it under a bushel: but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so thine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorifie your Father who is in the heavens.

1 Peter 4:10

10 As every man hath received the gift, minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

James 1:17

17 Every, good gift, and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Matthew 25:14-30

14 As a man travelling abroad, called his own servants and delivered unto them his goods. 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every one according to his ability, and straightway took his journey. 16 Then he that had received the five talents, went and traded with them and gained other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received the two talents, he also gained other two. 18 But he that had received one, digged in the earth and hid his lords money: 19 After a long time, the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. 20 And so he that had received five talents, came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained besides them five talents more. 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. 22 He also that had received two talents, came and said Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 24 Then he who had received the one talent, came and said, Lord, I knew that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering from whence thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth, lo, there thou hast thy [talent]. 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and sloathful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him who hath the five talents. 29 For unto him that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but of him that hath not shall be taken away, even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye forth the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Romans 12:6
