Bible verses about "stubbornness" | Whiston

Matthew 13:23

23 But he that received seed into the good ground, is he that hearth the word, and mindeth [it], then he beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundred, some sixty, some thirty.

John 15:1-27

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bear more fruit. 3 -- 4 As the branch cannot bear fruit of it self, except it abide in the vine: so neither can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 For I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, he bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye cannot do any [thing]. 6 If any one abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather it, and cast [it] into the fire, and it is burned. 7 But if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so be ye my disciples. 9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: abide ye in my love. 10 If ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I also have kept my Fathers commandments, and abide in his love. 11 But these things have I spoken unto you, that my joy in you might remain, and your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 For ye are my friends, if ye shall do what I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father, I have made known unto you. 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and appointed you, that you should go and bring forth much fruit, and your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 17 These things I command you, Love one another. 18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me first, 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: Because ye were not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20 Remember the words that I said unto you, my servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have observed my saying, they will observe yours also. 21 But these things will they do unto you for my names sake, because they know not him that sent me. 22 If I had not come, and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. 23 He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else had done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen me, and hated me and my Father. 25 But that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, that They hated me without a cause. 26 But when the Comforter shall come, whom I will send unto you from my Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from my Father, he will testifie of me. 27 And bear ye witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

1 Peter 5:8

8 Be sober, be vigilant; Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.

Galatians 5:19-21

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, laciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hared, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

John 5:30

30 I can of mine one self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Romans 2:5

5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart, treasurest up unto thy self wrath against the day of wrath, and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Philippians 2:3

3 [Do] nothing through strife, or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.
