¹ And entering again into Capharnaum, after [some] days, it was heard that he was in the house. ² And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no longer room to receive [them], no not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. ³ And they came unto him, bringing a Paralytic who was carried of four. ⁴ And when they could not come nigh for the multitude, they uncovered the roof where Jesus was: and when they had broken [it] up, they let down the couch upon which the sick of the palsie was lying. ⁵ When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the Paralytick, Son, [thy] sins be forgiven thee. ⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, saying, ⁷ Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemes, who can forgive sins but God? ⁸ And when Jesus perceived in [his] spirit, that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? ⁹ Whether is it easier said to the paralytick, Arise, and take up thy couch and walk, or to say [thy] Sins be for given thee? ¹⁰ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to for give sins, he saith to the paralytick, ¹¹ I say unto thee Arise, take up thy couch, and go unto thine house. ¹² And immediately he got up, took up the couch, and went out before them all, insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, and said, We never saw it on this fashion. ¹³ And he went out by the sea-side, and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. ¹⁴ And as he passed by, he saw [[read] Matthew] James [the son] of Alpheus sitting at the receit of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, that as Jesus was sitting at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, who also followed him. ¹⁶ And the scribes and Pharisees saw him eating with publicans and sinners; and thy said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth with publicans and sinners? ¹⁷ When Jesus heard [it], he saith, They that are well, have no need of the physician, but they that are ill: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. ¹⁸ And the disciples of John, and the Pharisees used to fast; and they come, and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? ¹⁹ And he said unto them, Can the children of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? ²⁰ But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast on that day. ²¹ No one also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up, taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. ²² And no one putteth new wine into old bottles, else the wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be spoiled. ²³ And it came to pass again, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath, and [his] disciples began as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. ²⁴ But the Pharisees said, Behold, why do thy diciples on the sabbath, that which is not lawful? ²⁵ And he answering said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? ²⁶ He went unto the house of God, and did eat the shew-bread, which is not lawful to eat, but for the priests, he gave also to them which were with him? ²⁷ [OMITTED TEXT] ²⁸ But I say unto you, The Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

¹ Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners to hear him. ² And both the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying that, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

⁴⁴ Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer of men from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

¹⁰ For whosoever shall fulfil the whole law, and yet offend in one [law,] he is guilty of all.

⁴ For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to Tartarus, and delivered [them] into chains [and] darknesses to be reserved to be punished;

⁵ And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin. ⁶ Whosoever abideth in him, sinneth not: whosoever sinneth, hath not seen him, neither known him. ⁷ Little children let not any one deceive you: He that doth righteousness, is righteous, even as he is righteous: ⁸ But he that committeth sin, is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ Whosoever is born of God doth not commit Sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. ¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: Whosoever doeth not righteousness, is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon:

⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning, his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering for your sakes, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

¹⁶ If any one see his brother sin a sin not onto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin the sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

⁸ For by his grace are we saved, through faith and that not of our selves; [it is] the gift of God: ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast;

⁸ But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

⁸ But God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

¹⁷ When Jesus heard [it], he saith, They that are well, have no need of the physician, but they that are ill: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

²³ For the wages of sin [is] death: but the gift of God [is] eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²³ For all have sinned; and come short of the glory of God;

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
