⁹ But I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for the cause of fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery.

³² But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery.

³¹ It hath been said, Whoever shalt put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce. ³² But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery.

² And the Pharisees asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. ³ And he answered and said unto them, What did Mores command you? ⁴ And they said, Moses suffered to give, to write a bill of divorce, and to put [her] away. ⁵ And Jesus answered and said, For the hardness of your heart, Moses wrote this precept. ⁶ But from the beginning, God made male and female. ⁷ And he said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife: ⁸ And they two shall be one flesh: so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. ⁹ What God hath joined, let not man put asunder. ¹⁰ And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same word. ¹¹ And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her, ¹² And it a woman shall depart from her husband, and marry another, she commitith adultery.

²⁷ Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. ²⁸ But and if thou takest a wife, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned: nevertheless, such shall have trouble in the flesh; but I spare you.

⁶ Wherefore they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joyned together into one, let not man put asunder.

¹⁸ Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her that is put away from [her] husband, committeth adultery.

³⁹ The wife is bound as long as her husband liveth: but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
