¹² Then said he also to him that invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not [thy] friends, nor thy brethren, nor neighbours, nor the rich, lest they also invite thee again, and a recompence be made thee. ¹³ But when thou makest a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind; ¹⁴ And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompence thee: for thou shalt be recompenced at the resurrection of the just.

²⁰ And he again lifted up his eyes upon the disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. ²¹ Blessed [are] ye that hunger now[:] for ye shall be filled.

⁷ Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be must be born from above (born again, Vulg.), ⁸ The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, or whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. ⁹ Nicodemus answered and said unto him; How can these things be? ¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? ¹¹ Verily verily I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testifie that we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony. ¹² If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I shall tell you heavenly things? ¹³ And no one hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, the Son of man who is in heaven. ¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: ¹⁵ That every one who believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God hath so loved the world, that he hath given his only begotten Son, that every one who believeth on him, should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God sent not his Son unto the world to judge the world; but that the world through him might be saved. ¹⁸ He that believeth on him shall not be judged: but he that believeth not, is judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.

¹² Rejoycing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer:

¹¹ And such were some of you: but ye have been washed, but ye have been sanctified, but ye have been justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁸ There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment: he that feareth, is not made perfect in love.

¹⁷ But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

¹⁸ Praying always, with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching unto him, always in supplication for all the saints;

¹⁶ But he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and As the custom was, he went into the synagogue, on the sabbath day, and stood up to read. ¹⁷ And the prophet Esaias was delivered unto him; and when he had opened [it,] he found the place where it was written, ¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me; I am sent to preach the gospel to the poor, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, ¹⁹ To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. ²⁰ And having closed the book, he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down; and the eyes of all that were in the synagogue were fastned on him. ²¹ But he began to say unto them, that This day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.

⁴⁴ And all that believed were together, and had all things common.

⁸ For by his grace are we saved, through faith and that not of our selves; [it is] the gift of God:

¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, ¹⁶ Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is]. ¹⁸ And be not drunken with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit:

¹⁷ Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are past away, behold they are become new.
